Isle of Man TT winner Plater becomes Avon motorcycle tyre ambassador

Avon Tyres and two-time Isle of Man TT race winner and former British Supersport champion Steve Plater has become brand ambassador for Avon’s motorcycle tyre range. Avon has been working closely with Plater in recent months to enhance the 3D Ultra Xtreme and 3D Ultra Xtreme Slick products. Designed and manufactured in the UK, the 3D Ultra Xtreme and 3D Ultra Xtreme Slick, along with the wet-weather 3D Ultra Xtreme Rain Racer, are high-performance tyres developed with demanding track use in mind. Cooper has previously introduced brand ambassadors for particular product ranges, like Formula 1’s David Coulthard, who represented Cooper UHP tyres.

GB Tyres introduces 6-year warranty on JK Tyre commercial vehicle tyres

GB Tyres has introduced a new six-year warranty on JK Tyre’s commercial vehicle tyres. The wholesaler became the exclusive UK & Ireland distributor of the Indian brand’s tyre range in January 2020. GB Tyres told Tyres & Accessories that the first year of the partnership has been “very successful” and the customer feedback it has generated has allowed it to fully assess the quality and performance of the brand under various working conditions.

Halfords’ recent acquisition of Universal Tyres follows the acquisition of McConnechy’s Tyre Service Ltd for £8.5 million and Tyres on the Drive for £746,000 back in November 2019. Hankook to become exclusive tyre supplier to European TCR series – and others

Fantastic recognition: Bridgestone on Auto Bild Sportscars test win

Bridgestone is tickled pink that its new flagship performance tyre, Potenza Sport, has been named winner of Auto Bild sportscars’ 2021 summer tyre test. Scoring ahead of eight other brands of tyre, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport, tested on a Ford Mustang 5.0 in the size 265/35 ZR 20, gained the overall best score in the wet and top ratings on dry roads and was classed as ‘exemplary’ by the German magazine.

Volvo: All-season tyres for electric cars in Europe

Volvo Cars has announced that the fully electric cars it sells in Northern and Central Europe – but not the UK – will come with all-season ‘Recharge’ tyres as standard. Original equipment Recharge tyres are specifically developed for Volvo’s Recharge product line, and according to the car maker are the first tyres for year-round use to achieve an EU tyre label ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency.
