Wang Jianye heading Sailun Group under ‘rotational’ presidency

Chinese tyre maker Sailun Group Co. Ltd. has introduced a new rotational system for appointing the company’s president. Under the format, which takes effect this month, Sailun’s Board of Directors appoint a member of senior management to serve in this role for a maximum period of two years. Wang Jianye has been named the first president of Sailun Group under the system, succeeding Zhongxue Yuan.

Sailun: New Supervisory Board chairman

Sailun Group has appointed a new chairman for its Supervisory Board. Ji Qing Li, who held the position since 2014, submitted his resignation on 9 July. His successor was named during a meeting three days later; Hao Li has taken on the role.

Sailun inaugurates upgraded acquired plant

On 27 June, Sailun Group officially inaugurated the modernised former Anchi Tyres facility in Weifang, Shandong Province. Group subsidiary Sailun (Weifang) Tire Co., Ltd. invested RMB 719.9 million (£81.3 million) to upgrade production at the acquired plant and implemented its improvements within a timeframe of just six months.

Sailun developing ERange EV specific tyre line-up

Sailun Tire Group is developing the ERange EV, tyre line-up in order to cater for growing demand for electric vehicles. According to Sailun Tire Americas, the new range is expected to reach the (US) market in 2022. At the point of its launch, the ERange EV portfolio will offer 90 per cent coverage of the electric vehicles on sale.

Sailun enhancing commercial tyre production across manufacturing footprint

The Sailun Group is ramping up production at its plants in China and Vietnam. The manufacturer brought its newest truck tyre plant in Shenyang, China onstream in November 2020, giving it an additional 3.3 million units of all-steel truck radial capacity. In addition, Sailun plans to invest RMB 719.9 million (£81.3 million) to upgrade production at recently acquired manufacturer Shandong Anchi Tyres in Weifang, giving it the capacity to produce 1.2 million truck and bus radials and 6 million high performance passenger car and light truck tyres a year. Most recently, Sailun confirmed plans for the third phase of expansion at its Sailun (Vietnam) subsidiary.

Sailun evaluating car tyre production in Cambodia

Sailun Group is considering setting up a plant to produce tyres for passenger vehicles in Cambodia. According to a feasibility study published today, the Chinese tyre maker is interested in building a facility within the QiLu (Cambodia) Special Economic Zone in Svay Rieng Province that is capable of making five million semi-steel radials a year. Sailun estimates the project will require an investment of 1.18 billion yuan (£130.5 million).

Sailun upgrading car & truck tyre production at acquired factory

Sailun Group recently won the tender to acquire bankrupt manufacturer Shandong Anchi Tyres Co., Ltd., and in January paid RMB 202 million (£22.8 million) for Anchi’s assets. The tyre maker now plans to invest RMB 719.9 million (£81.3 million) to upgrade production within the former Anchi facility in Weifang, China and give it the capacity to produce 1.2 million truck and bus radials and 6 million passenger car and light truck tyres a year.

Sailun boosting Vietnam production to meet demand in Europe & North America

During today’s extraordinary shareholders meeting, its first of 2021, Sailun Group confirmed plans for the third phase of expansion at its wholly-owned Sailun (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. subsidiary. Over a three-year period, the company will invest 3.01 billion yuan (£340.1 million) to equip the site with the capacities to produce 3 million car and light commercial vehicle tyres, one million truck and bus radials, and 50,000 tons of off-the-road tyres per annum.

Sailun’s new truck tyre plant enters service

The Sailun Group’s newest truck tyre plant in Shenyang, China is now onstream. The tyre maker held a commissioning ceremony at its wholly-owned Sailun (Shenyang) Tire Co. Ltd. subsidiary on 18 November. The project gives Sailun an additional 3.3 million units of all-steel truck radial capacity.

2020 marks Sailun’s 5th year supporting World Child Cancer as the transportation partner, alleviating the financial burden for families of children with cancer. Financially, Sailun continues its pledge to World Child Cancer – which supports children with cancer in the low and middle-income world – with a recent 50,000 euro donation.

Apex Motorsport gains global sales rights for Sailun motorsport tyres

Sailun Tire has entered into a partnership agreement with China’s Apex Motorsport. The deal, signed on 21 August by Apex Motorsport’s Jin Yi and Chen Zheng, deputy director of Sailun Motorsport, gives Apex global sales rights for Sailun Sports Tires including the full range of Sailun Gene R tyres. Sailun believes this agreement marks its “successful shift from the prosumer market to the consumer market following three years of racing events that put Sailun Tire products to various stringent tests.”

Sailun SDR1 truck tyre receives TÜV SÜD mark

Sailun’s SDR1 truck tyre has attained TÜV SÜD MARK certification, the first Chinese manufacturer in the tyre industry to do so, according to the company.

The SDR1 series of tyres from Sailun are sold in more than 30 countries and regions in Europe, such as Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, and Spain and has been well received by all Sailun dealers in Europe. For Sailun, gaining TÜV SÜD certification “not only demonstrates Sailun’s strengths in development and production in high-end tyre products, but it also signifies the approval of the European market towards its products, laying the foundation for growth in this high-end market”.

Sailun Europe appoints Gareth Passmore senior vice president

Sailun Group has appointed Gareth Passmore as senior vice president (PCR and TBR Tyres). The manufacturer states that his appointment is designed to strengthen the company’s management team in Europe, aligned with its objective of growing its European market share. Passmore is making his return to Sailun having previously served as president of Sailun Jinyu International in 2016-17. Fluent in several languages, Passmore has previously held a number of international focused roles with Falken, Apollo, and Continental.
