15 new jobs as Lancashire parts distributor BBC Superfactors opens Preston branch

Lancashire car parts distributor BBC Superfactors will open its new branch in Preston on Monday, 14 March, creating 15 new jobs. The branch, in Great George Street, is the seventh operated by the family run business, with further launches planned in the next six to 18 months. The new premises were occupied previously by Unipart Automotive, which collapsed into administration in July 2014.

New ECP branch opens in Enfield

Car parts distributor Euro Car Parts (ECP) has opened a standalone branch in Enfield at Unit B Progress Way, Great Cambridge Road, Enfield EN1 1SH.

ECP has closed its existing ex-Unipart site, which was operating as a satellite branch to Edmonton. The new 10,000 sq ft (929 sq m) unit is five times the size of the old branch and includes ECP’s new fast-track Click & Collect counter service.

Andrew Page rebrands as Autoparts People

Parts and workshop equipment distributor Andrew Page has rebranded its entire national network, including many former Unipart Automotive centres. Covering the original Andrew Page and Camberley Auto Factors branches, as well as the 21 Unipart Automotive centres purchased in July, branches have now received new signage and team uniforms to reposition the group as Andrew Page, the Autoparts People.

ECP commits to ‘super hubs’ roll out, creation of ‘1,000 new jobs’ in 2015

Euro Car Parts has announced its commitment of capital into developing a network of UK “super hubs” in 2015. ECP claims the new super hubs will create “over 1,000 new jobs, build in excess of one million square feet of new warehousing and achieve 100 per cent availability of an expanded choice of stock to customers.” The latter would be achieved by “increasing the frequency of, and speeding up delivery schedules to workshops by local hubs and branches,” ECP adds.

Robin Shaw joins Bridgestone

At the end of October 2014, Robin Shaw took over as the managing director of Bridgestone’s North Europe region, which includes the UK as well as the Nordic markets. Shaw replaced John McNaught who had been with the company for 12 years. He joined at a time when reorganisation is taking place within the wider European business and when a number of key UK and North region managers have either retired or gone off to pastures new. Tyres & Accessories caught up with Robin Shaw as he was en route to Brussels for one of many meetings he has had with European executives during the beginning of his tenure.
