SUV tyre with off-road capability: Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure

The latest tyre to join the Goodyear Wrangler family has gone on sale in European markets. The Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure is designed to meet the demands of SUV drivers looking for a tyre with both on-road and off-road capabilities; Goodyear states that the new range provides “more robust off-road capability than the regular SUV tyre.” The Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure is produced in 27 sizes for 15 to 19-inch rim diameters, with fitments available for vehicles such as the Land Rover Defender, Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes G-Class, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Land Cruiser and the Volkswagen Amarok.

Micheldever confirmed as UK supplier for Insa-Turbo

Insa-Turbo has named Micheldever the sole distributor for the UK, building on the long-standing relationship between the two companies. Micheldever has distributed Insa-Turbo tyres – which are retreaded – for more than 10 years and in 2016 saw the brand grow by more than 15 per cent. Now the company is looking forward to future success with the Spanish off-road specialists.

Cooper Tire Europe announces title sponsorship of World RX of Hockenheim

Cooper Tire Europe has extended its support of the World Rallycross Championship. In addition to being the official tyre supplier and associate partner of the FIA series for the fourth consecutive year, Cooper has become the title sponsor of the 2017 World RX of Hockenheim. Cooper has supported World RX since its inception in 2014, and supplies eight dry and eight wet tyres per Supercar driver at each of the 12 rounds. Cooper also became the presenting sponsor and tyre supplier to the second tier RX2 International series - previously RX Lites - for this season earlier in the year.

China recycling plant and joint venture: Enviro signs MoUs with Vanlead Group

State-owned Chinese firm Guangzhou Vanlead Group, parent company of Wanli tyre brand manufacturer South China Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd, has signed two memorandums of understanding with Swedish firm Scandinavian Enviro Systems. The first of these covers the establishment of a turnkey recycling plant in Guangdong province, and the second the setting up of a joint venture to market Enviro’s patented technology across China.

Autogem to exclusively distribute Tire Profile software and hardware

Autogem is exclusively distributing Tire Profiles Inc’s TreadSpec and Groove Glove tyre tread depth and wheel alignment diagnostic equipment. Tire Profiles is designed to help auto dealers and repair shops sell more tyres, wheel alignments and other “around the wheel” repairs, by providing equipment and processes that create “a sound repeatable process”. The solution works on the philosophy that “it is not the measurement that matters but rather what one does with the measurement which has driven”.

Dunlop WEC teams conduct pre-season tests at Monza

The Italian Autodromo Nazionale Monza hosted the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) pre-season test, the first opportunity for fans to see all the 2017 competitors and for teams to gather data before the season begins in two weeks’ time. In around 14 hours of track time, teams worked on set-ups to optimise their new tyre and car combinations; the 14 cars covered 2268 laps – a total of 13138 km. Wet weather on Saturday evening and a damp track on Sunday gave teams opportunities to work with the intermediate and full-wet tyre options.

As we transition into spring, many think of new-born lambs and flowering bulbs as symbols of the new life of the year ahead. However, for accountants and many others working in the finance side of things, the beginning of April marks the end of the tax year. OE brand pull-through lower in Indian tyre market

According to the JD Power 2017 India Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Index Study 34 per cent of customers in India cannot recall their tyre brand. Furthermore, only 58 per cent of these customers say they “definitely would” repurchase the original brand, as compared to 65 per cent of those customers who could identify their brand.

Tyrepac founder to head Point S Asia growth

Point S has opened an Asia office Singapore and appointed Ler Hwee Tiong as chief representative. The new Point S representative office is located within the French Chamber of Commerce in the city centre of Singapore and will coordinate activities within the Asian region. Point S push into Asia is expected to be “patient, and adapted to the local working environment of each market”.

Auto Bild sport tyre test: A surprisingly modest result for Continental

Continental’s had a good run of it in the spate of tyre tests published in time for summer 2017. From victory in the main Auto Bild summer tyre test to wins in those conducted by Auto Bild Sportscars, GTÜ and Gute Fahrt, the Continental Premium Contact 6 and SportContact 6 were deemed amongst the best that money can buy. It thus came as a surprise to see a Conti tyre sitting near the tail end of the newest Auto Bild test table.

Dunlop Moto2, Moto3 battles set to intensify in Argentina, America and Spain

Dunlop continues its support as tyre supplier for the 2017 FIM Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships on their tour of the Americas, with round two at the Autodromo Termas Rio de Hondo, Argentina on 9 April and the Circuit of the Americas, Texas on 23 April. Two weeks later the Dunlop-shod machines embark on their first race appearance of the year in Europe, at Jerez, Spain on 7 May. The tyre supplier will continue to record overtakes for its 2017 #ForeverForward award.

Dmack to bring new hard compound to first all-asphalt WRC round, Junior WRC

Dmack will roll out its final new tyre for the World Rally Championship season at next week’s Tour de Corse, the first all-asphalt round of the 2017 series. The hard compound H6+ version of its Dmack Grippa DMT-RC22 will be supplied to drivers competing in WRC and WRC 2. The event will also host the first round of the FIA Junior World Rally Championship, for which Dmack is official partner and tyre supplier.

Euro Car Parts starts 3-1-1 MOT petition

Euro Car Parts has started a petition in support of the current 3-1-1 MOT test regime. Joining industry voices such as the NTDA and IAAF, Euro Car Parts has voiced concerns that road users’ safety will be compromised if the date of a car’s first MOT is extended to four years.
