Cornwall-based Wills Brothers has become one of the first farms in the UK to fit a patented new safety system designed to protect machinery and trailers from the risk of tyre under-inflation. Arable Manager Tom Wills specified the Michelin Tyre Pressure Management System (TPMS) Light Fleet – pioneered by UK technology firm Wheely-Safe, an official licensee of Michelin – after seeing the product on show at Lamma.
The Autódromo do Algarve has agreed a three-year extension to its official tyre partnership with Davanti Tyres. The circuit, which plays host to the European LeMans Series, 24H Endurance Series, the FIM World Superbike Championship, and the Algarve Classic festival, is recognised for the technical challenge it poses to racers. The UK tyre brand, which launched its first tyre in 2015, describes the new deal as “a massive coup.”
Goodyear announced that it will expand its manufacturing facility in Slovenia to meet the growing demand for premium tyres in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The plant, in Kranj, will be expanded to house new tyre building machinery intended to increase its capacity by a quarter, creating more than 150 new jobs, and reaching full capacity by 2021.
Continental is offering drivers free all-season tyre demonstrations this February half term. Goodyear has launched the Vector 4Seasons Cargo light truck tyre. The all-season product aims to offer increased fuel efficiency, improved performance and extended mileage compared to the previous model. In Goodyear testing, the Vector 4Seasons Cargo offers shorter stopping distances and improved stability and handling in wet and dry conditions. The tyre manufacturer is also emphasising the reduced cost to drivers and fleet managers due to no longer having the inconvenience or cost of switching tyres between seasons.
Kumho has added the new BMW 5 Series to its portfolio of OEM supply deals. The tyre manufacturer’s Ecsta PS91 super sports tyre in size 245/45R18 XL 100Y is now being delivered to the German marque’s Dingolfing plant in Bavaria.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has confirmed the ratification of its new four-year labour agreement by members of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 752L in Texarkana, Arkansas. The agreement covers more than 1,400 USW members.
