From Concept to King – Agritechnica launch for Nokian contractor tyre

A concept tyre displayed at Nokian Tyres’ stand at Agritechnica 2017 will return to this year’s show – in an evolved form – as a new range aimed at tractor and machine contractors who seek a product that offers a combination of “on-road endurance, traction and grip on a soft terrain and a high load-bearing capacity.”

Pirelli launches Track Adrenaline a Salon Privé

Pirelli has launched its Track Adrenaline UHP tyre sensorisation and virtual tyre technician technology. The launch took place on 6 September at the exclusive Salon Privé supercar garden party at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. 2019 marks the fifth year running that Pirelli has sponsored Salon Privé. With Pirelli equipping more than 50 per cent of prestige cars all over the world, many of the vehicles seen at Salon Privé ran on the Italian rubber.

Michelin accompanies Bugatti beyond 300 mph

Last month, a Bugatti Chiron became the first near production car in the world to break the 300 mph barrier, after reaching an independently verified speed of 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h) at Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany. The Chiron wore Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 – the world’s fastest street legal tyre – for the speed record attempt.

Michelin launches Road 5 GT

Long-distance touring enthusiasts rejoice: Michelin had introduced a GT version of its Road 5. The tyre maker states that the Michelin Road 5 GT has been “developed in exactly the same spirit and to the same rigorous standards” as its 2018-launched sibling, but focuses on the specific requirements of touring bike riders looking for “safety, comfort, long life, stability and sheer riding enjoyment” in a range of conditions.

Co-owned recycling plants: Enviro setting up USA holding company

Instead of just approving the use of its technology under license, Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) intends to introduce its technology worldwide by participating in joint ventures. To facilitate the setting up of such plants in the USA, Enviro’s board of directors has founded a holding company in that market.

Prinx Chengshan: Milestones reached in Thailand, China plant projects

Prinx Chengshan reports that “steady progress” is being made at its new tyre factory in Thailand. Construction work commenced on 31 March and the purchase of key equipment by invitation to tender has now been completed. The company estimates that all steel production workshops, mixing workshops, and supporting public works will be completed by the end of this year. Production at the site should commence in 2020.

Pirelli celebrating Bentley centenary at Salon Privé

Pirelli will take centre stage at the most exclusive motor show in Britain again next week. Half motor show, half-garden party, Salon Privé takes place in the grounds of Blenheim Palace: the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill in Oxfordshire.

Salon Privé is now in its 15th year, with Pirelli supporting the event as sponsor for the last five years. From September 5-8, some of the most rare, exquisite and prestigious classic cars from around the world will form the centrepiece of the show.

Dunlop launches Trailmax Meridian adventure bike tyre

Dunlop has shared further details about its Trailmax Meridian, one of three new Dunlop motorcycle tyres scheduled for release in the second half of this year. Introducing the newcomer, Dunlop declares that a ‘new adventure dawns’ for the adventure bike sector. Sitting in the range above the TrailSmart MAX, the Trailmax Meridian has been developed around the very specific and complex requirements of the most technically advanced adventure bikes.

René Rast on course for title after victory in 500th DTM race

René Rast claimed his fifth win of the season in the 500th DTM at Lausitzring and extended his lead in the Drivers’ Championship. Behind Rast, second to fifth places went to fellow Audi racers Nico Müller, Mike Rockenfeller, Jamie Green and Robin Frijns as the Ingolstadt carmaker secured early confirmation of victory in the Manufacturers’ Championship. In the Saturday race, Nico Müller won to close the gap on Rast, who was forced to retire with technical issues. Frijns and Rockenfeller were second and third to make it a one-two-three for Audi. Track temperatures were high for both races – up to 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday – while Hankook’s Ventus Race tyres impressed with a high level of grip on the smooth surface.
