Local foodbanks welcome helping hand from Hankook Tyre

Hankook Tyre UK, elite sponsor of the Northampton Saints, collected for the Daventry and Northampton foodbanks earlier this month as the Club took on Newport Gwent Dragons in the second round of the Anglo-Welsh Cup. Hankook and the Saints asked supporters to bring non-perishable items to the game for collection at the Hankook trailer, located in the Supporter Village at Franklin’s Gardens. Hankook also organised a collection at their head office in Daventry, where staff donated Christmas treats for the cause.

Teams try out 2018 Pirelli F1 range

Testing of Pirelli’s 2018 Formula 1 tyres took place at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit over a two-day period this week, and following the conclusion of proceedings the tyre maker is proud to report that four-time and current champion Lewis Hamilton has declared the new PZero Pink hypersoft tyre the “best tyre Pirelli has ever made.”

Pirelli and Politecnico Milan renew research partnership

Pirelli and the University of Milan have renewed a new three-year research deal signed by Marco Tronchetti Provera – Pirelli’s executive vice chairman and CEO – and Ferruccio Resta, rector of the Politecnico University. The original Joint Labs agreement dates back to 2011 with the aim of developing innovative tyre technology for the future.

This year Stapleton’s celebrates 80 years since Sydney Stapleton set up his business in a simple parade of shops at 195 High Street, Watford in 1937. An entrepreneur of terrific dynamism and foresight, he was among the few to spot and take advantage of the fast-growing market for tyres. A decade on, in the post WWII years, the company’s total weekly wage bill amounted to the princely sum of £20. It’s safe to say in this 80th anniversary year the wage bill’s grown considerably now Stapleton’s employs some 1,100 staff at eight regional sales offices and eleven distribution hubs nationwide. It’s also safe to suggest that Sydney Stapleton would be staggered by the scale of his old business, with a current stock capacity of 1.5 million tyres available at any given time.

Goodyear and NASCAR Extend Historic Relationship

The Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Company has renewed its support of NASCAR with a multi-year sponsorship agreement that ensures Goodyear is the exclusive tyre of NASCAR’s top three national series.

The newly signed agreement continues Goodyear’s designation as the “Official Tyre of NASCAR” and extends an uninterrupted relationship that started in 1954. Goodyear and NASCAR’s six decade-long relationship is one of the longest-running sponsor programs in any major sport.

This year has been the most successful FIA World Rally Champion season so far for Dmack, and it has rounded off 2017 with a best-ever performance on the final round at Kennards Hire Rally Australia – topping the timesheets on the eighth event this season. STARCO launches two new tyre & wheel solutions

Amongst the products shown by the 2,900 or so exhibitors at this year’s Agritechnica fair were two new tyre and wheel combinations from STARCO. Introducing the HT Pro solution for hay tedders and the HS Flotation for agricultural implements, the company’s segment director for Agricultural Implement, Frédéric Ivancich, commented that while wheels and tyres are often not considered when looking at ways to optimise the performance of an agricultural vehicle, machine or implement, STARCO and its customers “know their true potential.”

Two open competition titles for Dunlop in FIA WEC

With the 6 Hours of Bahrain, the current FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season drew to a close. Reflecting on an “amazing season of racing,” Dunlop has congratulated Aston Martin Racing and Vaillante Rebellion for their class victories. Both raced on Dunlop tyres in open tyre classes; Aston Martin Racing won the FIA World Endurance Trophy for LMGTE Am Teams and Vaillante Rebellion won the FIA World Endurance Trophy for LMP2 Teams. Each of the teams began the event leading the standings and both claimed race victories in Bahrain to secure the crowns.
