Apollo commemorates International Day for Conservation of Mangroves

The mangrove conservation project, referred to as ‘Kannur Kandal project’, initiated by Apollo Tyres in partnership with Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), recently commemorated the UNESCO-mandated international day for conservation of mangroves at Kannur, Kerala. Honourable Mayor of Kannur Municipality, Ms E P Latha was the chief guest at this half-day event, which was attended by senior government and forest officials, representatives of Apollo Tyres and WTI, Community Members and Academia.

Alfred Graham elected TIF chairman

At its recent AGM the Tyre Industry Federation (TIF) unanimously elected Alfred Graham as its new chairman. Graham will serve a two-year period of office. He will also remain director of the International Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ITMA).

Kama launches Pro NU 404 with central inflation

With the launch of the Kama Pro NU 404, Kama Tyres has become Russia’s first tyre brand to offer products featuring a central tyre inflation system. The new range is available in two sizes, 14.00R20 and 16.00R20, as well as in tubed and tubeless versions. The Kama Pro NU 404 is intended for use on four-wheel drive trucks, mainly in off-road conditions and on soft soils, at an ambient temperature range of -45°C to +55°C.

July peak month for tyre-related incidents

Its summer holiday time and for many this means a long car trip. For some this also means tyre problems – Department for Transport data shows July to be the month when tyre-related incidents are at their highest. Indeed, one third of all tyre-related incidences in the UK occur during the summer months.

Bridgestone expanding OTR tyre production at US plant

Bridgestone Americas has announced a US$12 million investment that will expand production to include popular off-the-road (OTR) tyre sizes at its Bloomington, Illinois facility. The plant will produce multiple sizes and patterns in 29-, 33- and 35-inch OTR tyres, which until now have only been produced by Bridgestone in Japan.
