How artificial intelligence enhances tyre inspection

UVeye is a provider of artificial intelligence (AI) based solutions for automatic external inspection of vehicles within the security industry. Initially developing systems to detect dangerous conditions like weapons, explosives, or other threats in some of the world’s most high-security locations, the company saw the opportunity to use its technology to solve challenges in the automotive industry to detect potentially hazardous mechanical issues. ATG gains Manitou supplier award

Agricultural and construction machinery manufacturer Manitou has bestowed a Best Competitive Performer Award 2019 upon Alliance Tire Group. The tyre maker says the award recognises its “excellent cooperation and consistent performance on diverse levels from the development and testing to the procurement and service phase.”

WSBK: Pirelli tyre supply extended for 3 years

The long-standing agreement between Dorna WorldSBK Organization and Pirelli has will continue for at least an additional three years. The tyre maker has been confirmed as official tyre supplier to all classes of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship up to and including the 2023 season.

Continental & Spark Racing Technology begin Extreme E testing

Testing for the Extreme E off-road electric racing series began earlier this month at the Château de Lastours off-road proving grounds in the south of France. One question the tested aimed to answer during proceedings was how well the car and tyres work together. They also looked into any potential weaknesses in the electric race car’s physical and technical design, not least in its motor. The tests lasted several days and were run by Continental, tyre supplier to Extreme E, and Spark Racing Technology.

Better late than never: Bridgestone opens Thailand OTR plant

A ceremony was held yesterday to mark the official opening of Bridgestone’s new OTR tyre factory in Thailand, marking the conclusion of a long and at times less than certain construction and preparation programme. The ceremony was attended by Bridgestone Group executives as well as members of the Board of Investment, Thailand, Rayong Province, and Japanese Embassy.

Ten more years – Bridgestone renews World Solar Challenge partnership

Since 2013, Bridgestone has lent its name to the world’s foremost solar car race. Participants travel to Australia every two years for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC), with this year’s event attracting 48 teams. The 3,000-kilometre (1,860mile) race from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia ended on 20 October, and that day Bridgestone committed itself to another decade of support.
