This latest evolution of the Michelin Power Slick rear tyre features a construction aimed at improving lap times through an increase in performance and stability. Following in-house testing, MotoGP riders were given their first taste of the tyre at the Catalunya test at Barcelona in June.

Bridgestone said these partnerships led to approximately 100 new original fitments in the EMEA region, similar to its ‘best-ever’ 2018 OE results, spread across more than 50 different models from 14 manufacturers. The tyre manufacturer’s 18” diameter or greater OEM fitments have increased by over 10 per cent since 2018, it added.
Guizhou Tire recently broke ground on two new tyre production facilities near the firm’s headquarters in Guizhou, Guiyang province. According to Asian Rubber Journal reports, when operational, the first – a $307 million plant – is expected to generate nearly $426 million annually. Capacity is salted to be 3 million truck tyres a year.
Cornwall-based tyre specialist Geoffrey Harris Tyres has become the latest UK distributor of Goodyear Farm Tires. The company, which sold Goodyear agricultural tyres from 1968 to 2011, wasted no time renewing that relationship when the famous brand returned to the UK and European markets this year.

Together with German distributor Bohnenkamp, ATG has helped its tyres reach new heights by sponsoring an expedition upon the highest active volcano in the world, Ojos del Salado. The expedition team, driving Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023 trucks fitted with Alliance tyres, reached an altitude of 6,694 metres during their quest to install life-saving solar-powered emergency radio communication systems in high mountain shelters. This feat broke the previous truck and car altitude records.
As of next season, Goodyear will take over from Yokohama as official tyre supplier to the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup. Following an official FIA tender, Goodyear will partner with the series for the three years covering the 2020-2022 seasons.
Christian de Wit will join STARCO on 1 January as sales director and head of global sales. Goodyear will be the official tyre supplier to two top teams in the upcoming Dakar Rally. The rally returns to its roots in the desert on 5 January in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the shift to a new continent presents new challenges to tyre suppliers, drivers and vehicles. The 2020 rally will run over sand dunes, rocky canyons and wadis or dry riverbeds, all on standard truck tyres. Goodyear has a strong record on the rally in recent years, with Petronas De Rooy Iveco occupying podium places, including two first places, with Goodyear as their tyre and development partner.
