Early 2023 launch for Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V4

The fourth generation of the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa is now completing its final stages of development and testing, and Pirelli says both versions of the motorcycle tyre that “symbolises sports riding” will be available to buy from the start of 2023. Their release will complete a renewal of the Diablo Sport range that began in 2021 with the Diablo Rosso IV and continued this year with the Diablo Rosso IV Corsa.

Kal Tire & Mitsui partnering on mining tyre recycling

To meet growing demand for mining tyre recycling and recycled rubber products, specifically carbon black and rCB, Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group and Mitsui & Co. have entered into a joint venture commercialise the Kal Tire thermal conversion recycling facility in Chile from early 2023. Activities there will act as a “foundation” as the venture pursues “opportunities to bring OTR tyre recycling solutions to mining regions around the world.”

Teijin Frontier announces a greener tyre cord

Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. claims a world first with the commercialisation of a tyre cord that combines an adhesive that does not contain resorcinol formaldehyde (RF) with a chemically recycled polyester fibre. Test production of the tyre cord will begin next year, and the Teijin Group company aims to achieve annual production of 200,000 tonnes by 2030.

Continental debuts 5th generation Conti Hybrid

With the launch of its all-new Generation 5 Conti Hybrid tyre range, Continental seeks to equip regional haulage operators with the latest in tyre innovation and technology. First to arrive in the Generation 5 line-up are the Conti Hybrid HS5 for the steer axle in HS5 385/55 R 22.5 and HS5 315/70R22.5 and the Conti Hybrid HD5 for the drive axle in HD5 315/70 R 22.5. Further dimensions will join the range over the coming year.

Emerald launches solid skid-steer tyre range with World Wide Tyre Marketing

Emerald Resilient Tyre Manufacturers Pvt Ltd has launched a new range of solid skid-steer tyres at the IMHX 2022 exhibition in association with the company’s UK distributor, World Wide Tyre Marketing (Fork Truck Tyres Ltd).

According to the company, Emerald is the largest Indian solid and pneumatic tyre manufacturing and exporting company and was proud to launch the new range, which is available both with and without apertures.

IRSG collaborates to support research on rubber sustainability

The International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) believes there are “no sustainable alternatives” to natural rubber. In order to gain a greater understanding of how climate change economically and socially impacts this industry, IRSG has enhanced its collaboration with the Singapore Agri-Food Lab (SAIL) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). This collaboration may expand in future to focus on sustainability in the supply chain beyond the plantation.

Canada’s Group Touchette completes NTD acquisition

On 7 September, American Tire Distributors (ATD) announced the completion of its Canadian subsidiary’s sale to Groupe Touchette, Canada’s largest locally-owned tyre distributor. By divesting the National Tire Distributors (NTD) business, the wholesaler says it is now “better positioned to serve its customers across the US” and to “invest in the enhanced innovation that is driving its transformation efforts.”

A new flagship tyre will arrive in Bridgestone’s summer touring line-up next year, and it’s a product that “gives drivers control and confidence in stressful and unforeseen conditions, including on a rainy day.” Introducing the Bridgestone Turanza 6, Bridgestone states that its successor to the Turanza T005 offers best-in-class wet performance as well as superior mileage and improved fuel/energy efficiency.

BitcoinRacing: Nankang Tyre Citycar Cup is a way to increase cryptocurrency take-up

BitcoinRacing was formed with the stated aim speeding up the adoption of Bitcoin as an everyday currency. Writing at the start of the year, company representatives explained that the plan is to achieve that end “by travelling 5000 miles across the UK in 2022 with an HGV transporter decorated in Bitcoin decals and entering four race cars into the Nankang City Car Cup…” That, they continued, will make the team a “mobile advertisement for Bitcoin”.

Enviro appoints new CFO

Scandinavian Enviro Systems is in the midst of an expansive phase, and as part of the accompanying enlargement of its finance department has appointed Staffan Kullberg its new chief financial officer. Green XLR Earth: GRI launches sustainable tractor tyre

Off-highway tyre specialist GRI has introduced an agricultural tyre range containing 37.5 per cent sustainable materials. The new Green XLR Earth series is made with a high percentage of recycled carbon black, soybean oil, HD silica and reclaimed rubber. GRI debuted the range at the Farm Progress Show in Iowa, USA.

New awards, test wins show quality of Hankook’s winter and all-season tyre ranges

Hankook’s comprehensive range of winter and all-season car and van tyres have been scooping up plenty of awards and recommendations over the past few years. This has been reflected in commendations for both the Kinergy 4S and 4S2 all-season models by Tyres & Accessories’ sister independent tyre comparison website WhatTyre, which considers tyres’ performance in a range of quality tyre tests, original equipment fitments, and several other metrics. Prinx Chengshan: Increased sales, lower profit in H1 2022

Prinx Chengshan Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries report selling 9.394 million tyres during the six months to 30 June 2022, a year-on-year increase of 3.3 per cent. From this total, 3.333 million were all-steel radial tyres and 5.919 million semi-steel radials. Cross-ply tyres accounted for some 142,000 pieces.

Bridgestone further expanding Bahia tyre plant

Through its local subsidiary Bridgestone Do Brasil Industria e Comercio Ltda, Bridgestone Corporation is once again increasing production capacity at the Bahia passenger car and light truck tyre plant in Brazil. Earlier today, the company said it would invest approximately BRL 270 million (£45.4 million) in this project; when combined with the capacity investment announced in July 2021, total investment in boosting Bahia plant capacity amounts to approximately BRL 970 million (£163.2 million).
