Sustainability: ZC Rubber setting up tyre pyrolysis, recycling facilities

ZC Rubber claims to have been the first tyre company in China to recycle, reuse and repurpose its products, beginning its journey in 2005 with the establishment of its Recycling Technology and Service Center. The manufacturer is expanding its circular economy activities in 2022 with a new 5,000 tonne per annum tyre pyrolysis processing line as well as a Zhongce Recycling Technology production line that can produce 7,500 tonnes of liquid recycled rubber a year.

ZC Rubber launches two truck products, WTR2 A-rated on tyre label

ZC Rubber launched two new truck tyre products at the recent IAA Transportation 2022 event in Hannover. The WTR2 and the WTX2 tyres are being added to the existing Westlake Gen II truck tyre line.

According to the company, the development of Westlake Gen II is a crucial step toward reaching the company’s vision for sustainable logistics and will also “considerably increase benefits for customers”.

General Tire Grabber X3-equipped Brabus exhibited at Conti Tuning Day

Everything revolved around Brabus vehicles on 20 August, when the 44th occurrence of the Conti Tuning Day was held. The vehicle tuner brought ten impressive high-performance vehicles for comprehensive testing at the event, including a brand new customised Mercedes EQS and the Brabus 900 Crawler. Tyre prices up 33% in two years, connected vehicle tech will help fleets – epyx research

New connected vehicle technology will help fleet improve tyre management after a 33 per cent increase in prices during the last two years, new research from epyx shows. Matt Waller, director of connected car at epyx’s parent company, Fleetcor, said that spiralling costs meant that both the monitoring of tyre performance in real time and prediction of future wear were becoming essential to controlling costs.

China’s tyre export growth slowed in August

On 18 September, China Customs announced national export data for August. During the month, China exported 48.23 million sets of new pneumatic rubber tyres, down 8.9 per cent year-on-year. The weight of these tyres was 650,000 tons, an increase of 2.7 per cent. The export value reached 11.4 billion yuan (about 1.4 billion pounds, 1.6 billion euros), an increase of 15.3 per cent.

Early 2023 launch for Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V4

Kal Tire & Mitsui partnering on mining tyre recycling

To meet growing demand for mining tyre recycling and recycled rubber products, specifically carbon black and rCB, Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group and Mitsui & Co. have entered into a joint venture commercialise the Kal Tire thermal conversion recycling facility in Chile from early 2023. Activities there will act as a “foundation” as the venture pursues “opportunities to bring OTR tyre recycling solutions to mining regions around the world.”
