Gold medal ambassador the icing on Bridgestone’s BMS cake

Bridgestone is reflecting on its most memorable presence of the year after showcasing its products to up to 58,000 British Motor Show visitors at Farnborough International between 17 and 20 August. The tyre firm and mobility solutions provider was present at the show in partnership with Kwik Fit and drew upon a little help from a freestyle BMX gold medallist, Bridgestone ambassador Charlotte Worthington.

Enviro Q2 2023 financials; negotiations with further suppliers & customers

Scandinavian Enviro Systems has reported an after-tax loss for Q2 2023 that is some seven times larger than its net revenue, but the company remains confident of its future following a directed share issue in May and as a definitive investment decision regarding its planned joint venture plant in Uddevalla, Sweden draws nearer. Enviro’s H1 2023 Half-Year Report also includes a statement from its CEO about delays to the start of construction work at the Uddevalla facility.

Dunlop MXGP riders continue winning streak in Netherlands

MXGP riders on Dunlop tyres continued their run of success in 2023 with victories in MXGP, MX2 and WMX at Arnhem in The Netherlands. Romain Febvre took his sixth overall FIM Motocross World Championship victory of the season with a second and first place finish in the two Sunday races. Over the weekend, riders used Dunlop’s latest Geomax MX34 front and Geomax MX14 rear tyre to handle the soft, sandy surface of the Arnhem track. Dunlop works with some of the fastest motocross riders to develop the next generation of motocross tyres. Wim Van Achter, motorsport manager, Dunlop, said the riders’ success “demonstrates the performance and quality of Dunlop’s motocross range.”

GT Radial SportActive 2 UHP tyre range extension: 90% market coverage

Giti Tire has added nine new GT Radial SportActive 2 sizes, including its first 22” rim for premium powerful SUVs and three recently unveiled dedicated electric vehicle (EV) tyres. Size 275/40R22 is aimed at large premium segment vehicles such as the Audi RSQ8, BMW X7 and Range Rover Sport while 275/45R21, 255/50R20, 235/50R19, one of the biggest sellers in Europe, and 255/60R18 develop the pattern’s 4x4, CUV and SUV coverage. The recently launched AAA-rated GT Radial SportActive 2 EV is now available in sizes 255/45R20 and 235/55R19 to cover the largest selling EV models from Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, VW and Volvo to name a few, while 235/45R18 is aimed primarily at the Tesla Model 3. The tyres are now available in the UK from GT Radial’s exclusive distributor in the market, Micheldever Tyre Services.

Goodyear 125th anniversary: tyre maker unveils retro branding at Donington BTCC

Goodyear will celebrate its rich history in motorsport and transportation with historic branding at the British Touring Car Championship this weekend at Donington Park. The tyre manufacturer and supplier says the historic circuit, which first hosted a motorsport event in 1931, is a fitting venue to host one of several Goodyear 125th anniversary celebrations around the world.

Cooper Kunshan tyre factory forced to limit production

In May this year, China’s environmental protection department imposed a penalty on the Cooper Kunshan factory, restricting production on the grounds of violating the “Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law”. At the same time, the tyre manufacturing base was fined 240,000 yuan.

Kumho broadens UK truck tyre distribution channels

During 2023 Kumho Tyre is significantly expanding its truck tyre distribution channels in the UK in order to increase availability. Direct supply has recently been launched from Kumho’s GB warehouse stock and the company reports that it is “actively seeking to partner with specialist truck tyre businesses focused on sales to fleets and other end users”. A national sales manager for truck tyres has also been appointed to lead Kumho’s development programme in the UK commercial tyre market.

Bridgestone breaks ground on $550 million truck tyre project

On Wednesday, Bridgestone Americas held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of one of its truck and bus tyre plants in the USA. An investment of US$550 million will increase the footprint of the Warren County, Tennessee factory by 850,000 square feet (79,000 square metres) and lift production capacity while adding 380 jobs to the plant’s workforce. Bridgestone will also equip the plant for producing tyres featuring Enliten technology.

Danish authority ends NDI acquisition case as Euromaster prepares to leave

The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority has suspended its investigation into the planned NDI Group acquisition of Euromaster Danmark. Following the collapse of the two companies’ planned merger, the Euromaster Group announced that it will “not continue its activities in Demark” after the end of 2023.

Hankook exhibiting its iON tyre family at the London EV Show

Hankook will showcase its iON range of specialist electric vehicle tyres at the London EV Show (28-30 November, ExCel London, Stand number ES11). The London EV Show is the largest international trade show and conference focused on the electric vehicle industry in Europe. Hankook launched the iON range in 2022, tyres with a technological emphasis on EVs leading to reduced rolling resistance, low noise, and high resilience. This means that compared to conventional tyres, the tyres offer increased range per battery charge. Hankook iON products are also designed for the high torque immediately produced by powerful electric vehicles. Overall this means a better driving experience for EV drivers.
