Pirelli market stats confirm OE/replacement contrast

Blatco appoints construction consultants for Saudi tyre factory project

Three years ago, Black Arrow Tire Co. (Blatco) announced its plans for a tyre factory in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Shortly afterward, Kumho confirmed it was in talks with Blatco. In March 2024, Kumho and Blatco signed a technology license agreement, which is purportedly a 20-year deal. The latest news is that, in mid-February 2025, under the auspices of the Saudi government’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) summit, Blatco signed a “strategic partnership” with both Kumho and another Korean company, Misong Tech.

VTTI, Pyrum to build waste tyre thermolysis plant in Antwerp

Under a new partnership agreement, energy infrastructure company VTTI and pyrolysis tyre recycling specialist Pyrum Innovations plan to establish a thermolysis tyre recycling plant at VTTI’s Antwerp Terminal. The VTTI-owned facility will have a processing capacity of up to 45,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres in the first project phase and double this in the second. Going forward, VTTI aims to develop similar plants at its sites across the globe.

Jet Wheel flying high with Auto3iii as new business takes off

Jet Wheel Tyre reports more than 100 new business leads per month after working  Auto3iii’s electronic vehicle health check technology. In other words, Essex-based Jet Wheel Tyre says it has transformed its operations since adopting Auto3iii’s unique eVHC solution, which they have adopted for their Benfleet workshop for tyres, brakes, and TPMS sensor health checks. Since implementing the system in November 2024, the workshop has generated around 300 new leads, with over 100 secured in January alone.

Hard compound Goodyear tyre arrives in WEC LMGT3

Goodyear has begun its second season as exclusive tyre supplier for the LMGT3 category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), and for 2025 it is introducing a new slick compound, the ‘Eagle Hard’ specification tyre. This will debut at the 6 Hours of São Paulo in July before returning at Circuit of The Americas and Bahrain; three tracks known for high temperatures or abrasive surfaces.

HiQ and Carsa expand partnership with 2 new locations

Following the news in September 2024 that HiQ Tyres & Autocare and Carsa are cooperating, they are expanding their strategic partnership with the opening of two new autocare centres in Greater Manchester and Leicestershire. The two new centres in Bolton and Mountsorrel aren’t the end of it either, with more locations “already in the pipeline”.
