Auto Bild summer tyre test win for Goodyear & Michelin

After keeping us in suspense for a couple of weeks, Auto Bild has published the final results of its summer tyre testing. Having eliminated many of the original 52 tyre brands in a preliminary round of wet and dry braking, the publication’s test specialist Dierk Möller examined the 20 size 225/40 R18 finalists in greater detail, investigating how each performed in conditions typically encountered throughout the year. Auto Bild also considered purchase price and its relationship to mileage potential, as well as rolling resistance, giving each tyre a ‘cost’ score for these factors.

MotoGP: “expanded configuration was not what Michelin wanted”

Following the news that MotoGP has selected Pirelli as an exclusive tyre supplier from 2027, Michelin has commented that Dorna Sport “decide to select a single tyre supplier for all MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE categories” after “several months of discussions”. The problem is “this expanded configuration was not what Michelin wanted, as we have always preferred to focus exclusively on two disciplines: MotoGP and MotoE”, a Michelin spokesperson told Tyres & Accessories in answer to our questions.

Ring awards show tyre car range’s growing strength

Ring Automotive entered the tyre care market 20 years ago and has been aiming to dominate tyre care space since. Ring’s tyre care range consists of more than 25 products, including tyre inflators, footpumps, pressure gauges and sealant with many multi award winners among them.

One such product that has won multiple awards – including Expert Reviews and IAAF’s Highly Commended Product of the Year – is Ring’s cordless digital tyre inflator (RTC4000), a high quality, compact, yet powerful cordless tyre inflator that can be used for cars and motorcycles. Unlike the many cordless tyre inflators on the market that can only top up one or two tyres at a time till the battery goes flat, the RTC4000 can easily inflate four tyres, each by more than 10 psi and has a battery capacity that will even inflate a tyre from flat. It is also easily chargeable via a USB Type C or 12V DC cable and inflates tyres quickly.

TRA: UK government procrastinating on ending T8 exemptions

The Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) has warned the British government of the damage being caused to industry and the environment due to “an ongoing lack of action to deliver policy reform”.

Recent responses from the DEFRA minister responsible, Mary Creagh MP, are said to highlight the concern of recyclers that government “lack a grip on industry reality”. Specifically, “despite the British government’s stated commitment to bring an end to T8 exemptions there has been no date given to enact the policy, something of increasing concern to industry players as market conditions continue to deteriorate”

US class action verdict: operating in parallel isn’t necessarily tyre price-fixing

Following the news that the recent class-action price-fixing case against tyre manufacturers has been dismissed, we took a closer look at the Judge’s ruling combining her legal opinion with analysis that we produced based on third-party European data around the time the US suits were brought. In short, we found that Judge’s opinion amounts to the belief that operating in parallel isn’t necessarily tyre price-fixing. And furthermore, our data shows that that broader tyre market prior landscapes somewhat contradict simplistic notions of prices always rising.
