Grupo Soledad supplying Spanish Police with Nexen tyres

Grupo Soledad has won the contract to supply and maintain tyres for the Spanish National Police fleet. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior reportedly chose Grupo Soledad, which will supply and fit Nexen tyres for Spanish National Police cars, based on the distributor’s “quality and service proposal”.

Webfleet sets EV van range record

Bridgestone shares that its Webfleet fleet management solution has “smashed” the Guiness World Records title for the greatest distance travelled by an electric van on a single charge. Webfleet-sponsored drivers Kevin Booker, Sam Clarke and Fergal McGrath drove a Fiat E-Scudo fitted with Bridgestone Duravis tyres 311.18 miles (500.8 km) in total.

GB Tyres buys Nordic Tyres

GB Tyres has bought Nordic Tyres (UK) Ltd. Nordic Tyres, which is based in Dumfries, Scotland, was established in 1999 and has become a well-known name in the UK agricultural and forestry tyre sectors. Alan Lindsay, managing director, Nordic Tyres will remain in the business.

Facelifted Porsche Cayenne wearing Yokohama tyres

Yokohama Rubber has begun supplying original equipment tyres to the facelifted Porsche Cayenne. The SUV is fitted with Yokohama Advan Sport V107 tyres in the front axle dimension 285/40R22 110Y and rear size 315/35R22 111Y. The tyres feature Porsche’s NC0 mark on the sidewall, the symbol worn by all tyres that Porche approves as original equipment fitments.

Intelligent tyres: Tire Society details 42nd annual conference papers

The Tire Society has published the details of presentations scheduled for its 42nd Annual Conference (12-13 September 2023, at the University of Akron, Ohio). In addition to in-person attendance, benefitting from live Q&A, sponsor exhibits and a student poster session, registrants can access the presentations after the Conference via a “play-on-demand” feature. Registration includes Tire Society Membership, which gives access to the critically reviewed Tire Science and Technology Journal.

Halfords supports first on-ground tyre safety event as TyreSafe member

Halfords has attended its first on-ground tyre safety event, marking its tenth anniversary as a member of TyreSafe. The company provided free tyre safety checks to motorists in Blackburn on Friday 28 July at ASDA. Aiming to champion tyre safety and raise awareness of crucial tyre checks in the local community, 75 per cent of tyres received advisories, with perishing a major issue alongside the more commonly understood inflation and tread depth defects. Halfords has recently extended its involvement with the tyre safety organisation, appointing Morgan Jamison, its head of marketing, to the TyreSafe Steering Committee.

South Africa imposing anti-dumping duties on tyres from China

The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) has recommended that the country’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Ebrahim Patel, impose definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of passenger car, truck and bus tyres from China. The Minister has approved ITAC’s recommendation. Duties will range from 7.18% to 43.60% ad valorem and remain in place until July 2028.

RH Claydon distributing Nokian agri & forestry tyres

Nokian Heavy Tyres now has a second partner in the UK. RH Claydon Ltd. is distributing Nokian forestry and agricultural tyres from its warehouses after entering into an agreement with the tyre maker. RH Claydon reports that it now stocks these products in most popular tread patterns and sizes, with next-day availability in certain locations.

Toyota Gazoo Racing Indonesia running on Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 tyres in AXCR

Yokohama has continued its support for entrants in the 2023 Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR), Asia’s largest cross-country rally. In addition to renewing its successful supply deal with Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, Yokohama will supply the tyre to Toyota Gazoo Racing Indonesia on the 13-19 August rally.

A penny earned – Nokian Tyres returns to the black in Q2 2023

In spite of a steep year-on-year drop in operating profit during Q2 2023, Nokian Tyres believes it has made significant progress towards rebuilding the company following the decision to cut its ties with Russia. It expects a stronger second half to 2023 due to winter and all-season tyre sales and the contribution made by contract manufacturing.

Pirelli debuted the P Zero brand in 1986 and since then has given the name to numerous performance tyres, including more than 1,300 original equipment homologations for vehicle manufacturers. A trio of P Zero tyres debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week.
