Pirelli and Bute Motorsport have extended the tyre manufacturer’s exclusive sole tyre supply and sponsorship agreement with the GT Cup Championship. Pirelli will remain the series’ sole supplier until 2028. The Italian tyre manufacturer has supported Bute Motorsport and the GT Cup Championship for many years, stating that the renewed collaboration solidifies the commitment from both parties to deliver high-performance racing experiences, fostering further innovation in motorsport.
Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) reports having developed a new type of recovered carbon black with improved dispersion properties. It developed this new type of carbon black to meet demand from the tyre and rubber industry and has produced the material at its plant in Åsensbruk, Sweden ”for some time” now.

October is Tyre Safety Month and this year TyreSafe has launched the ‘Safe and Save’ campaign, encouraging motorists to stay safe and save money by learning basic tyre care. The verdict is now out on the 20 finalists in the Auto Bild 2023 winter tyre test. While the Auto Bild test team found that most of these size 225/45 R18 tyres offered “really good performance” when snow and ice were present, the picture looked different when testing in conditions that motorists more typically encounter. They observed “surprisingly large differences in performance potential” on wet and dry roads and gave only three tyres their top ‘exemplary’ rating. One of the 20 receives a non-recommendation.
Pirelli is celebrating a successful 2023 season in European rally after Mads Ostberg claimed victory in Hungary in his Citroen C3, shod with Scorpion rally tyres. Pirelli is the only tyre-maker of the four suppliers to the European Rally Championship to have seen victories claimed on all surfaces through the season, with its runners achieving podium finishes at every meeting. Hayden Paddon had already claimed the title with two races to spare on Pirelli rubber. 55 of 106 special stages were also won on Pirelli tyres.
