Dunlop bows out of Grand Prix motorcycle racing

Last weekend’s MotoGP of Valencia not only concluded the 2023 season – it also marked the end of the Dunlop era in this motorsport event. The tyre brand, which locally is part of Goodyear, has been represented in Grand Prix racing since 1949. Despite its departure, Dunlop has reaffirmed its “commitment to top-level and world championship motorcycle motorsport,” which remains a “key component of the brand’s DNA.”

Carlstar brand transition progressing well

Farming without pressure – Galileo’s growing CupWheel range

It’s about a decade since we first saw CupWheel airless tyre technology. We knew it then as Mitas PneuTrac, unaware at the time of Israeli firm Galileo and its novel product. Galileo was founded in 2011 by Alon Hayka and CupWheel inventor Avishay Novoplanski. Over the years the company has brought a growing range to market under its own name and returned to Agritechnica this month to present its latest products.

Repairify: technology, AI can help bridge ADAS servicing skills gap

Garage and diagnostics equipment supplier Repairify has addressed the current chasm between the approximately 3,500 ADAS-qualified technicians in the UK and the 21,500 required to meet market demand for these services. The company says it can help businesses meet the dramatic increase in demand, set to continue as growth in ADAS-equipped vehicles rises, via the support of its own team of IMI-qualified technicians and the development of technology to support maintenance work on these cars. Phil Peace, managing director (SVP) international at Repairify Inc, told Tyres & Accessories that AI and machine learning has enabled the company to enhance its data to support its solutions that puts critical repair information into garage workflow.

ZC Rubber presents latest additions to Tianli range

Our visit to the Tianli stand at Agritechnica 2023 was poorly timed, but no language barrier can stop us from appreciating a new tyre. The ZC Rubber brand brought two to the show, Agri King and Land Care, which it displayed alongside other products from the wide Tianli range.

Pirelli prepares for 2024 with F1 tyre test following season-closing Abu Dhabi grand prix

The competition between the Formula 1 drivers and constructors has been all but over for most of the second half of the 2023 season as Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Red Bull dominated from the start. Preparations for 2024 will commence in earnest moments after the chequered flag signifies the end of the Abu Dhabi grand prix, as the teams proceed immediately to testing at Yas Marina. Exclusive tyre supplier Pirelli will supply a predetermined allocation of compounds to teams, which will run two cars, for testing on the Tuesday following the weekend’s grand prix action. The five compounds will remain the same as in 2023, though the hardest C0 compound will be dropped altogether from Pirelli’s F1 tyre line-up.

USTMA partnering to find 6PPD substitute

The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) is partnering with government agency the United States Geological Survey (USGS) on a research project. The aim of this project is to assess and refine methods of evaluating potential alternatives to 6PPD, the antiozonant widely employed as a rubber stabilising additive when producing tyres.

Alliance Agri Star range II now available in 65 series

The Alliance Agri Star II range is now complete following the launch of 65 series sizes. Yokohama Off Highway Tires (YOHT) introduced the new additions to the range at Agritechnica 2023 and will offer 21 sizes/25 SKUs in dimensions that “completely cover the range of front and rear combinations” and joins the existing line-up of 70, 85, 90 and 95 series fitments.
