‘Strategic player’ Dunlop to cover 84% of value segment market

Yokohama Rubber restructures Vietnam business for growth

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. has spun off the sales unit of its Vietnam tyre production and sales subsidiary, Yokohama Tyre Vietnam Inc. (YTVI), into a new dedicated sales company. Yokohama Tyre Sales Vietnam Co., Ltd. will begin operations as an independent entity on 1 January 2024 with its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City. YTVI will become a dedicated tyre production company.

Sailun enters JV for Mexico tyre plant

Sailun Group is partnering to build a new factory in Mexico. Through its wholly owned subsidiary Sailun International Holding (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., the Chinese firm signed a joint venture agreement with TD International Holding and Sapide CV (TD Mexico) on 15 December. The partners will build a facility capable of producing 6 million semi-steel radial tyres annually and are also considering the future establishment of capacity to produce 1.65 million all-steel radials a year.

Soil & sustainability: Bridgestone plants seeds for 2024 agricultural tyre growth

Bridgestone says it has planted seeds for growth in the agricultural tyre market with the new VX-R Tractor and several original equipment approvals achieved in 2023. The manufacturer says its approach to developing products for the market segment has been defined by soil, sustainability, and measurable value for money. In 2023 it says more of its tyres were fitted as original equipment than ever before, most notably with John Deere and New Holland dealerships. As a result, it is heralding a “breakthrough” in market share and farmers’ awareness of its brands, particularly for the Bridgestone VX-Tractor range.

Brit European extends Prometeon Tyre Group contract

Cheshire-based logistics provider Brit European has extended its long-standing relationship with Prometeon Tyre Group with the renewal of its 12-month rolling Pay-as-You-Go contract, which includes Prometeon’s ‘PRO Management’ central billing and tyre management tool. This agreement covers Brit European’s entire fleet of 162 tractor units and rigids, 201 trailers, and a mix of cars and vans. Prometeon supplies Brit European with its latest Pirelli Serie02 tyre products.

Falken partners handball European championship

Falken Tyres will partner the Men's European Men's Handball Championship (EHF EURO 2024) for the second successive year. The 65-match competition takes place on 10-28 January in six venues across Germany – the first time the country has hosted the competition. Handball enjoys great popularity in continental Europe, where Falken will capitalise on the prominence brought by naming rights as an official partner of the top-level competition. The tyre manufacturer is also running a competition online to win two pairs of VIP hospitality tickets to the 22 January round at Cologne’s Lanxess Arena.

ZC Rubber tyre recycling project awarded Chinese industry technological advancement prize

A project led by a ZC Rubber recycling subsidiary has won the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation’s (CPCIF) first prize in technological advancement. Zhongce Rubber Recycling Technology’s ‘Demonstration Project of Waste Rubber Recycle & Application Technology’ was completed in collaboration with Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Nanjing Green Gold Giant Rubber & Plastic Advanced Technology Co, Ltd. ZC Rubber is the first company in the Chinese tyre industry to receive this honour.

Massimo Tyre sponsors MX5 Cup

Massimo Tyre is set to become the official tyre sponsor of the MX5 Cup racing tournament. Starting in 2024, approximately 40 drivers will compete up and down the UK for the ‘Massimo Tyre MX5 Cup by 5 Club’. The decision to switch to the popular tyres reportedly came after “record-breaking results in testing”. The series starts on the weekend of 20 April 2024 at Croft circuit.
