Huasheng Group to start Cambodia tyre factory project in 2024

The Dongying, Shandong Province-based Huasheng Group is planning to add a Cambodia tyre production plant to its portfolio of five factories. While there are few details at the moment, the even-lower-than-Chinese production costs paired with the company’s desire to increase tyre export sales are said to be the main motivations behind the move. Tyres & Accessories met company representatives during the recent GuangRao Tire and Rubber Auto Accessory Exhibition, which took place between 15 and 17 May in Dongying where the company had no less than five generously proportioned stands exhibiting its range of car, 4x4, light truck as well as truck and bus tyres.

USTMA and TIA form Tire Recycling Foundation

Financing round secures funds for Europe’s largest ELT pyrolysis plant

Circtec, a specialist in pyrolysis technology for sustainable end-of-life tyre recycling, has secured €150 million in a recent financing round. Novo Holdings and A.P. Moller Holding spearheaded this initiative with a €75 million equity investment. The financing also includes €22.5 million in grants awarded by the Government of the Netherlands.

Reifentester publishes inaugural tyre test

In addition to tyre tests conducted by motoring publications and associations, in recent times we’ve seen platforms such as Tyrereviews.com presenting their findings in video form. A new player in this field is ‘Die Reifentester’ – the Tyre Testers – an outfit consisting of former Gute Fahrt tyre testers Dirk Vincken and Joachim Fischer, along with Michael Blumenstein from media partner Auto Flotte. Their first test, now available online, examines eight touring summer tyres for compact class cars in size 225/45 R17.

Sailun, Tire Direct break ground on Mexico plant

Sailun Group and Tire Direct have broken ground on Aztema, their new joint venture factory in Mexico, with the partners laying a symbolic foundation stone at a ceremony on 15 May 2024. The first phase of construction at the Aztema plant will result in a facility with an initial capacity to produce 6 million car tyres a year; the partners plan to start production in March 2025.

Dunlop OE on Land Cruiser 250

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. (SRI) has begun supplying Dunlop Grandtrek AT23 and Grandtrek PT22 tyres as factory standard tyres for the new Land Cruiser 250, launched in Japan this April. The new Land Cruiser 250 will feature Dunlop Grandtrek AT23 tyres in size 265/65R18 114V and the Grandtrek PT22 in 265/60R20 112H.

Toyo Tires takes on FIA Baja Challenge

Toyo Tires is set to compete in the second and sixth rounds of the FIA World Bajas Cup, Baja Greece and Qatar International Baja. For Baja Greece, which takes place between 22 and 25 May, Akira Miura, Toyo Tires’ Open Country Ambassador, will be at the helm of a Toyota Hilux prepared by Overdrive Racing. Miura will also pilot the vehicle in the Qatar International Baja, which will be held between 31 October and 2 November.

R.H. Claydon confirms Hillhead attendance
