The Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) has awarded Petlas Tire Corporation its National Accreditation Certificate. This certification enables the company’s nationally accredited Tire Testing Laboratory to provide international compliance approval for aviation tyres.

Yokohama the front-runner to buy Goodyear OTR in >$1 billion-dollar deal

Yokohama Rubber Co. is reportedly in “advanced talks” to buy Goodyear’s OTR tyre business. And what’s more, the Japanese tyremaker is said to be willing to pay “at least $1 billion”, according to Bloomberg reports which cite “people familiar with the matter”. The latest news confirms reports Tyres & Accessories obtained a month ago which suggested that four suitors had been particularly interested in the purchase.

Government can address tyre recycling stagnation, says Australia’s TSA

During a parliamentary inquiry into government agency procurement practices, Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) emphasised that procurement policy and a robust approach to product stewardship are “the keys” to creating hundreds of local jobs in the waste tyre sector. Australia currently generates half a million tonnes of waste tyres, equivalent to 62.5 million passenger car tyres, every year.

Transition to EV brings with it wavering brand loyalty – Asahi Kasei

In its fifth annual survey the Japanese technology company Asahi Kasei asked car users in four major automotive markets (Germany, the United States, China, and Japan) about brand loyalty and key motivators for buying electric vehicles (EVs). The results suggest tightening competition, new manufacturers entering the markets, and – perhaps as a result – “brand loyalty is wavering worldwide”.

Goodyear the favourite in ADAC all-season tyre test

In its 2024 summer tyre test, the German motoring association ADAC examined only one product size rather than the usual two, focusing on just a single dimension so that testing capacity was available to address increasing demand within the all-season tyre segment. The ADAC test team looked at 16 all-season tyres in the popular 205/55 R16 size. For the first time in its years of all-season tyre testing, the motoring club awarded one product – its test winner – a 'good' rating. It declared a further six tyres to be 'satisfactory', seven 'adequate', and found two to be 'insufficient'.

Hillhead 2024 was the construction and mining equipment show’s ‘most visited’

The organisers of Hillhead 2024 say the construction, mining and recycling show was its “most visited… ever.” In total there were 26,626 visits over the three days, which was eight per cent higher than 2022, with nearly 10,800 people on site on the middle Wednesday making 26 June the show’s busiest single day in its history. Hillhead added that visitors “spent more time at the show than ever before.”

John Deere tyre partnership to drive Trelleborg sales in Brazil

Trelleborg Tires has outlined a growth plan for Brazil, including an aim to increase market share by leveraging its presence at over 300 John Deere dealerships. A new partnership, formalised during Agrishow 2024, commences this month and allows Brazilian farmers to access Trelleborg’s portfolio of over 700 products through John Deere’s after-sales network. This collaboration builds on the existing global partnership between the two companies at a regional level.
