From Guangrao to the world

On May 17, 2023, the three-day 13th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE 2023) ended, with Chinese language Tyrepress sister site, Tyrepress China in attendance. An organiser press conference on the last day of the show claimed that ChinaGRTAE 2023 had “achieved outstanding results”. According to preliminary statistics, more than 830 trade intentions, agreements, and contracts were reached on May 15th and 16th, exceeding 21.9 billion yuan. One special event hosted by the exhibition achieved more than 330 “one-to-one” negotiations, reaching an intention amount of 2.3 billion yuan.

Guangrao tyre show combines offline and online formats with Russia, Africa and Middle East focus

The 13th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE 2023), will be officially unveiled in a few days. On 8 May, a week before the start of the exhibition, the government of Dongying, the city to which Guangrao County belongs, held a press conference on the overall situation relating to the exhibition. At the time, the organisers said that between 15-17 May at least 20,000 professional visitors will participate in the exhibition, and more than 800 foreign businessmen would visit. Tyrepress has China learned that the theme of this exhibition is “Gathering the power of the industrial chain; Building a new development pattern”. In terms of format, ChinaGRTAE 2023 will be mainly offline and supplemented by online.

E-commerce on show at Guangrao tyre exhibition

On 15 May, the 13th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE 2023) opens. Since it was first held in 2010, the Guangrao Tire Exhibition has held ten offline and two online exhibitions. The ChinaGRTAE 2023 is this large tyre exhibition’s first physical event since 2019.

2023 Guangrao Tire Exhibition showcasing Chinese and international tyre manufacturing

From 15-17 May 2023, the 13th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE 2023) will be held in Guangrao County, Shandong Province, China. According to the show’s organiser, more than 50 tyre manufacturers are participating in the ChinaGRTAE 2023. In addition to local tyre manufacturers, well-known tyre manufacturers such as Goodyear, Continental, Dunlop, CST (Cheng Shin Tire), Giti, Sailun, Nexen, and Kenda, will also set up booths at this exhibition. Upstream and downstream enterprises in the tyre manufacturing industry chain, such as Solprima, Xingda Steel Cord, MAK, Jinfei Kaida wheel, and Yueling wheel hub, will also participate in this exhibition.

Goodyear investing US$200 million in Cooper Kun Shan tyre factory

Goodyear is investing US$200 million (about 1.37 billion yuan, £170 million, 190 million euros) in its Cooper Kun Shan tyre factory. Following the latest investment, the total investment of the Cooper Kun Shan plant is expected to reach $500 million (about 3.42 billion yuan, £410 million, 470 million euros).

Chinese truck tyre tariffs annulled

Anti-dumping and anti-subsidy tariffs imposed against Chinese-produced truck tyres in 2018 must be annulled, according to a judgement published by the European Court of Justice on 4 May 2022.  Tyres & Accessories understands that the verdict can be appealed between now and July, but unless that appeal is successful, the annulment of anti-dumping tariffs against Chinese-produced truck tyres will result in increased imports and sales of those products.

Liqui Moly to support Yamaha in the Superbike World Championship

Liqui Moly has added Superbike World Championship (World SBK) support for the Italian GRT Yamaha team to its MotoGP involvement. The team sponsorship will mean the company’s logo will be displayed on the motorcycles, racing overalls, team truck, and at the official Yamaha hospitality, while the team will have access to Liqui Moly motorcycle products, including more than its core oil and additive products.

Cooper Tire and Sailun announce Vietnam TBR tyre joint venture

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company is to form a joint venture with Sailun Vietnam Co, Ltd to build a 2 million capacity truck and bus radial manufacturing plant. Subject to closing and government approvals, the facility will be located near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, at the site of Sailun Vietnam’s existing operations, which early in 2018 signed an offtake agreement to produce Roadmaster, Dean and Starfire brand tyres for Cooper. The new announcement represents the latest move in a series of cooperative moves between the two firms – Sailun Jinyu invested in joining Cooper in its GRT JV in September.

Giti Tire debuts as Mini Challenge Asia tyre supplier

The pre-season round of the new Mini Challenge Asia series took place at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China on 17-18 March, with all entrants racing on Giti rubber. Giti Tire says it is “excited to be taking a new step forward as the official tyre” of 2018 Mini Challenge Asia, and it is supplying GitiCompete GRT1 tyres to each of the John Cooper Works Mini F56 cars racing in the China-based series. The official opening round will take place at the Zhuhai International Circuit on 16-17 June 2018.

Pirelli back with WorldSBK in Phillip Island

The season opener of the WorldSBK Championship 2018 began in Australia today, and Pirelli is back for a 15th year as official tyre supplier for all classes. For the race weekend, riders will have a total of seven tyre options open to them (in addition to the super soft qualifier tyre that can only be used in the second session of Superpole), four front and three rear tyres, and in addition to the tyres evaluated on testing days, riders can select an additional front and rear option.

Cooper Tire: Earnings affected by tax reform in 2017

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has reported full year 2017 net income of US$95 million, or diluted earnings per share of $1.81, a 61.7 reduction on the $248 million earned the year before. Income was affected by tax reform in the USA; the tyre maker states that excluding these discrete tax items, earnings per share would have amounted to $3.10.

Grasser Lamborghini wins Pirelli supported Blancpain GT titles after Mercedes win

The GRT Grasser Racing Team claimed Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and overall titles with a third-place finish in the final race at Barcelona with its Lamborghini Huracan GT3. The result gave Grasser’s Mirko Bortolotti, Christian Engelhart and Andrea Caldarelli the drivers’ Endurance title, while Bortolotti and Engelhart became the overall Blancpain GT Series drivers’ champions, which also considers results in the Sprint Cup.

Audi seals 9th Blancpain GT series title on Pirelli tyres

Following a closely-fought one-hour race at the Nürburgring in Germany, Audi claimed both the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup drivers’ and team titles, as well as the race win. The overall Sprint Cup drivers’ title went to Stuart Leonard and Robin Frijns, who also won the race overall in the #17 Audi R8 LMS. However, it was another Audi of Belgian Audi Club Team WRT that clinched the overall Sprint Cup team title, with Marcel Fassler and Dries Vanthoor finishing the race 10th to secure the teams’ championship: adding up to a highly-successful weekend for the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer.

Cooper Tire & Rubber: Sales stable, net income down 37% in Q2 2017

While unit volumes and net sales at Cooper Tire & Rubber remained little unchanged compared with the second quarter of last year, rising raw material costs ensured that income was significantly down in the three months to 30 June 2017. And although raw material costs are rescinding from the peaks seen earlier in the year, the tyre maker is keeping an eye out for further fluctuations.
