Car owners report EVs wear through tyres faster – JD Power

Electric vehicle (EV) owners are reporting faster tyre wear rates than they experience on internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. And that’s leading to a widening satisfaction gap between original equipment tyres and electric vehicles (EVs) and ICEs, according to the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Study, released at the end of March. Check tyres when taking vehicles out of storage: TyreSafe

UK road safety charity TyreSafe has reminded owners of vehicles emerging from winter storage that there is a heightened risk of tyre degradation for vehicles that have been off the road for an extended period. Typically spring is when vehicles such as trailers, motorcycles, caravans, and motorhomes are taken out of storage, and these vehicles are therefore prone to having tyres that have developed cracks, bulges, or other signs of wear, making them unsafe for road use.
