300 tyre and wheel brands exhibiting at CITExpo 2023

With CITExpo having been founded in 2003, the latest edition, which runs 4-6 September 2023 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, marks two decades of the tyre and wheel trade show. This year’s show will showcase more than 300 tyre and wheel brands, with the majority of them coming from Chinese manufacturers, according to Reliable International Exhibition Services Co. Ltd. and Topic International Exhibition Services Co., Ltd, the companies behind CITExpo.

From Guangrao to the World: what’s new at the Guangrao tyre exhibition

The 2023 Guangrao tyre exhibition came to an end on May 17, bringing to an end its first live show – held “offline” – since 2019. Tyrepress attended the three-day 2023 exhibition, and noted similarities with the past but also some changes in exhibitors and visitors to the show. This article was originally posted in Chinese on our sister website, Tyrepress China. A few years ago, the tyre industry in Guangrao underwent integration and reorganisation due to many factors. After undergoing multiple rounds of reshuffling, the local tyre industry has achieved industrial upgrading. At the 2023 Guangrao tyre exhibition, Huasheng, Zhongyi, Jinyu, Hengfeng, Fangxing, Yongsheng and other well-known local tyre companies have booths.

On May 17, 2023, the three-day 13th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE 2023) ended, with Chinese language Tyrepress sister site, Tyrepress China in attendance. An organiser press conference on the last day of the show claimed that ChinaGRTAE 2023 had “achieved outstanding results”. According to preliminary statistics, more than 830 trade intentions, agreements, and contracts were reached on May 15th and 16th, exceeding 21.9 billion yuan. One special event hosted by the exhibition achieved more than 330 “one-to-one” negotiations, reaching an intention amount of 2.3 billion yuan.

European imports of OTR tyres continue rapid growth trend – Astutus Research

The United Kingdom and European Union is importing an increasing tonnage of Off-The-Road (OTR) tyres, as the sector responds to internal and external trends. Externally, sinking shipping costs and relatively controlled production costs are particularly favouring Asian manufacturers. And with Russia’s war on Ukraine making the country a pariah in European trading terms, there are additional reasons to source increasing numbers of OTR tyres from South Asia. Trading relations with Russia’s closest supporter Belarus are also frosting, which could see further gains for Asian factories, while emerging tyre producing nations like Serbia could also reap the benefits. While the size, weight and per unit cost of the largest tyres could present arguments in favour of more localised production, lower manufacturing and materials costs weigh even more heavily in this balance of factors.

2023 Guangrao Tire Exhibition showcasing Chinese and international tyre manufacturing

From 15-17 May 2023, the 13th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE 2023) will be held in Guangrao County, Shandong Province, China. According to the show’s organiser, more than 50 tyre manufacturers are participating in the ChinaGRTAE 2023. In addition to local tyre manufacturers, well-known tyre manufacturers such as Goodyear, Continental, Dunlop, CST (Cheng Shin Tire), Giti, Sailun, Nexen, and Kenda, will also set up booths at this exhibition. Upstream and downstream enterprises in the tyre manufacturing industry chain, such as Solprima, Xingda Steel Cord, MAK, Jinfei Kaida wheel, and Yueling wheel hub, will also participate in this exhibition.

Brand Finance: Giti honoured by double Top 10 rankings

Commenting on the “excellent news” that it has retained tenth place amongst the world’s tyre makers on the Brand Finance Automotive Industry 2023 ranking of most valuable brands, Giti states it is “very honoured” to have received this accolade. The tyre maker also notes that Brand Finance listed Giti among the top ten tyre brands in its Sustainability Perceptions Value ranking.

China: Synthetic rubber partnership for tyre applications

The research institute behind Sailun Group’s EcoPoint3 compounding technology has established strategic partnerships with two companies to explore synthetic rubber applications for use in tyre production. EVE Rubber Institute has signed agreements with Ecombine Advanced Materials and Arlanxeo High Performance Elastomer (Changzhou), with the three parties planning to draw upon their respective technological and marketing strengths to deliver innovations in liquid-phase mixing.

Brand Finance: Michelin remains most valuable Tyre brand

No movement occurred on the podium of Brand Finance’s most valuable Tyre brands ranking for 2023, but while Michelin, Bridgestone and Continental respectively retain first, second and third places, Sailun appears on the radar as the fastest-growing tyre brand.

Five tyre factories on Chinese government green list

On 24 March, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed its 2022 Green Manufacturing List. Tyrepress China noted that the list of green factories includes five tyre manufacturers, namely Jinyu Tires, Triangle, Zodo Tire, Doublestar Dongfeng, and Sailun. Among them, Doublestar Dongfeng is the manufacturing base of Doublestar, located in Shiyan, Hubei.

Aeolus now supplying 63-inch tyres to OTR market

Aeolus’s first batch of 63-inch OTR tyres was shipped from the company’s Jiaozuo manufacturing base on 11 March. The specification model of this batch of tyres is 59/80R63. Aeolus said that these giant tyres were sent to key overseas markets. The manufacturer said that a giant tyre weighs nearly 6 tons with a diameter for more than 4 metres and is mainly used for mining dump trucks, around 400 tons.

First tyre rolls off Jiangsu General Cambodian factory production line

On 18 March Jiangsu General’s Cambodian factory produced its first tyre, which means the tyre maker’s second overseas factory is now ramping up its production capacity. Jiangsu General said that the products of the Cambodian plant are mainly produced under the Celimo brand and are sold in the United States, Europe and Brazil.

Federal signs off-take deal with Vietnam tyre factory

On 24 February, Federal signed an off-take agreement with Vietnam XT Tyre. According to the agreement between the two parties, XT Tyre will start to produce tyres for Federal in 2023 by Federal’s orders and production specifications. Federal did not disclose the details of the cooperation with XT Tyre, including the specifications and production capacity involved in the making the agreed products and the specific timetable for the collaboration between the two parties.

New Doublestar factory in Cambodia

On 20 February 2023, the board of directors of Doublestar reviewed and approved the proposal to build a factory in Cambodia. The tyre manufacturer reportedly plans to establish a joint venture with UBE Development Co., Ltd in order to complete the plans.
