Davanti showing new tyres on ‘biggest stand yet’ at Tire Cologne

Davanti Tyres reports that it will be appearing at The Tire Cologne in June with its “biggest stand yet”. Referring to the exhibiting as “the world's leading trade fair for the tyre industry”, Davanti representatives report plans to use the event as an opportunity to host partners and explore new distribution leads. At the same time, Davanti Tyres will be showcasing “a wide range of products including all-season, winter, high performance and commercial tyres”.

EV tyre sector leading the race to recovery: Comparing recent developments in the Chinese and European tyre markets

During our recent visit to China, on the sidelines of the GRTAE expo hosted in what can only be described as the tyre capital of the People’s Republic, Tyres & Accessories enjoyed a panel discussion with Car and Tire editor, Alex Shi. Formerly an executive within the tyre industry – including time with Goodyear – Car and Tires focuses on business-to-business communications and is particularly strong when it comes to tyre testing and in the social media space. Indeed, they are something of a force online, with some 300,000 followers on WeChat, which is a bit like WhatsApp is here in the West. True to form, not only was our discussion hosted in the main meeting room at GRTAE, it was also video recorded and streamed live to a potential of hundreds of thousands of Chinese-language followers in the East. Beginning with the current state of the respective Chinese and European tyre markets in light of recent macro-economic market trends, our discussion then moved onto the similarities and differences between the European and Chinese online tyre sectors (see part two).

Ecolomondo appoints CEO, Sorella becomes Executive Chairman

Ecolomondo Corporation, a Canadian cleantech company that has developed thermal decomposition technology for recovering raw materials from scrap tyres, has appointed Gary Economo as Chief Executive Officer. Economo succeeds Eliot Sorella, who assumes the role of Executive Chairman while retaining his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

MatraX tyres bringing broad range to TTC

MatraX Tyres plans to showcase its latest advancements and expanded product range at The Tire Cologne 2024 next month, and will be present in Hall 7.1, at Stand B008 C009. Apollo Tyres reports 65% increase in FY24 net profit

Apollo Tyres Ltd.’s Board of Directors has approved the company's audited financial results for the fourth quarter and the full financial year 2023-24. The Board also recommended a dividend payout of Rs 6.00 per equity share (600%) on a face value of Re 1 each for FY24, pending shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.

Yokohama Rubber posts record sales, business profit & margin in Q1 2024

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today disclosed its business and financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024. Sales revenue saw a year-on-year increase of 23.5 per cent between January and March 2024, amounting to ¥252.4 billion (£1.3 billion); business profit rose by 91.0 per cent, reaching ¥24.9 billion (£127.4 million); operating profit surged by 102.6 per cent, to ¥26.8 billion (£137.2 million); and profit attributable to owners of parent escalated by 104.0 per cent, to ¥19.8 billion (£101.4 million).

Apollo EnduTrax tyres for Astra off-road trucks

Astra, the Iveco Group’s construction and mining equipment division, has chosen Apollo Tyres’ EnduTrax as the original equipment tyre for its heavy-duty off-road truck range. This selection, effective from April 2024, is the second partnership between Apollo Tyres and the Iveco Group.

‘Strong double-digit’ – Premium tyres & SuperTruck driving Prometon market share

A new name appeared on our radar in 2017 when Prometeon Tyre Group began producing the existing 01 Series truck and bus tyre range. Prometeon followed this by playing an active role in developing a successor, the Serie 02. This range debuted in 2022, and by that time the company was gaining market share both in the UK and elsewhere, aided by a multi-brand product portfolio. The Prometeon name came out into the open with the launch of the SuperTruck service network, which arrived in the UK last year – and the name will soon gain an even greater presence in the market.
