NTDA Supports Tyre Safety Month

NTDA chairman Peter Gaster has called on members to support the TyreSafe tyre safety month. Independent tyre retailers, garages and franchise dealers are being encouraged by TyreSafe to offer their customers free tyre safety and pressure checks. NTDA: Reducing MOT Frequency Naive

A report by the HM Treasury, recommending major changes in the frequency of MOTs, has been labelled a “naive view of the contribution MOT’s make to safety on our roads” by the NTDA. “We have been aware for some time that the Treasury have been reviewing the current MOT regime in the UK,” commented NTDA director Richard Edy, adding: “These initial findings, that motorists would save £465million if the tests were done after the first four years and then every two years, takes no account of the importance of regular vehicle testing plays in reducing accidents on our roads.”

NTDA representatives told Tyres & Accessories that the association has completely solved this problem with the new site. According to official statistics, the NTDA sites receives up 2 million hits a year from 2000 unique users each month – T&A is certainly a regular visitor.

NTDA Website Attacked

National Tyre Distributor’s Association (NTDA) employees found this out at the end of September when they discovered that a self-styled virtual anarchist calling themselves “PSYCH@” had maliciously hacked the association’s website. Instead of news from the NTDA, this professionally designed site was replaced with a few words of incoherent text including an expletive and a comment on Israel.
