Thailand factory supports most of Linglong’s profits in 2023

Linglong’s revenue in 2023 exceeded 20 billion yuan, and its net profit was close to 1.4 billion yuan. The tyre manufacturer produced 79.117 million tyres throughout the year, an increase of 20.4 per cent year-on-year. Among them, semi-steel tyres increased by 19.20 per cent, all-steel tyres increased by 30.79 per cent, and bias tyres decreased by 6.19 per cent.

Firemax Cambodia factory holds groundbreaking ceremony

Tyre consortium releases 6PPD alternatives analysis report

To fulfil regulatory requirements in the US state of California, a global group of 30 tyre manufacturers has published a Stage 1 Alternatives Analysis (AA) report concerning the antioxidant 6PPD in tyres. This initial Stage 1 AA Report will serve as the groundwork for further Stage 2 exploration, ultimately culminating in a final AA report.

Thailand now supplies more than a quarter of European truck tyre imports – Astutus Research

The rapid growth of a manufacturing base largely across Asia has seen a swift evolution in the source of truck tyre imports in the European Union and UK. A new analysis conducted by leading tyre market analyst Astutus Research for Tyres & Accessories shows that Thailand has soared into a leading position in this segment, accounting for 26.3 per cent of truck tyre imports in 2023. Turkey (20.6 per cent) and more recently Vietnam (15.0 per cent) have also overtaken the previously dominant China (14.5 per cent) as leading sources of truck tyres in Europe (defined as the EU27 plus UK).

Firemax planning Cambodia tyre factory

Shouguang-based tyre manufacturer Firemax plans to invest in a Cambodian factory in 2024, according to local media reports. The project has been registered with the project department. According to filing information, the total investment in the project is US$190 million, with a designed annual production capacity of 1.2 million all-steel radial tyres and 8 million semi-steel radial tyres.

Profits of listed Chinese tyre companies rise sharply

A number of Chinese tyre manufacturers have stated that their net profits significantly increased year-on-year in 2023. Doublestar is one of the few tyre companies that was still losing money. Jiangsu General turned losses into profits. In terms of net profit alone, Sailun’s 3.1 billion yuan suggest the company gradually widened the gap between itself and Linglong. Currently, ZC Rubber has not officially disclosed its operating data for 2023. Therefore, it is not yet possible to judge who is in the leading position in terms of net profit between Sailun and ZC Rubber.

VF tyres join Maxam AgilXtra range

Maxam Tire has added VF sizes to its AgilXtra I3 range of agricultural implement flotation tyres. Commenting on the new VF560/60 R22.5 and VF600/55 R26.5 tyres, Greg Gilland, the tyre maker’s VP of global agriculture, says their introduction represents “another symbol of Maxam’s commitment to delivering business solutions to the global agricultural market and for the future of the industry.”

Motoring clubs test 215/55 R17 tyres

For their 2024 summer tyre test, European motoring organisations ADAC, ÖAMTC and TCS have shined the spotlight on 215/55 R17, a dimension suitable for mid-size cars and smaller SUVs. The test team put 16 brands of tyre through their paces and was satisfied with overall results, even though some tyres showed “minor weaknesses”.
