Tyresure listed on MAM parts catalogue

Tyresure Limited, a dedicated TPMS specialist supplying TPMS solutions to distributors across Europe, is now using MAM’s Autocat v8 parts catalogue to provide distributors with TPMS product data and diagnostic information. As well as including data on Tyresure’s aftermarket sensors and service parts, the company is using the catalogue to convey helpful information on whether a diagnostic tool is required. Tyresure partners ATEQ and works closely with the tool maker to keep vehicle compatibility up-to-date and accurate.

Orion’s new carbon blacks “improve fuel efficiency of tyres”

On 23 May, US-based Orion Engineered Carbons released three new products that it says create more fuel efficient tyres. The new tyres come in response to consumer demand and legal standards for vehicle fuel economy. As far as the US federal version of these rules are concerned, these grades offer reduction in rolling resistance via narrow particle size distributions and lower sidewall hysteresis; and lower air permeation through the inner liner for better tyre inflation consistency.

Apollo Tyres Ltd has inaugurated a new office in the ASEAN region’s third largest automotive market. Satish Sharma, president of the tyre maker’s Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA region), inaugurated the company’s Malaysian office in the presence of select business partners and company officials.

2016 TyreSafe Tyre Safety Month briefing to be ‘comprehensive forum on tyre safety’

TyreSafe has shared details of the Tyre Safety Month Briefing, which is billed as a ‘comprehensive forum on tyre safety in Britain’. In addition to the annual launch of Tyre Safety Month materials, the briefing will include results of the second phase of the ‘Tread depth survey at the point of replacement’. Presentations from influential guest speakers and policymakers from the tyre and road safety community will also feature, along with the unveiling of “an innovative engagement tool for TyreSafe members and supporters”.

Delticom, the German-based online tyre retail and wholesale firm, presented its entire range of B2B Services during Reifen in Essen. According to company representatives, which market themselves as yourtyres.co.uk over here, the trade fair appearance proved extremely positive, resulting in “hundreds of interesting and constructive discussions with international clients and media representatives.”

Falken supplies tyres for Seat’s first SUV

Falken Tyre Europe has been made the original equipment tyre supplier to Seat’s first SUV, the Ateca. The Sumitomo Rubber Industries brand will roll off the production line fitted with the Falken Azenis FK453CC and Ziex ZE914A tyres. Falken will deliver FK453CC tyres in size 215/50R18 92W and the ZE914A tyre in size 225/55R17 97V.

Bridgestone tyres for Dodge Durango

Bridgestone reports that its Ecopia H/L 422 Plus has been approved as an original equipment tyre for the 2016 Dodge Durango. The full-size SUV, which is built on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, will receive the Bridgestone tyre as standard equipment in size 265/50R20 for the All-Wheel Drive, R/T Rear-Wheel Drive and Citadel All-Wheel Drive models, and the Ecopia H/L 422 Plus is available as an option in this size for the Durango SXT and Limited.

UK drivers spend £21.1 billion on service and repair (including tyres) every year

The latest data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that British cars are among the best maintained in the world, with UK motorists spending a collective £21.1 billion a year on servicing and repair. The data, which was released on the eve of the inaugural Automechanika Birmingham, forms the basis of the first official industry analysis of the UK automotive aftermarket. It also comes at the same time that Sainsbury’s bank has released data suggesting the average annual cost of running a car is around £2,197.42, 22 per cent - or £622 - less than 2013. The main reason for this change is that the cost of fuel has fallen by 37.8 per cent during this period.

4-wheel record beaten by Subaru on Dunlop

While Michael Dunlop was busy making history on Dunlop, the tyre brand also saw new records set on four wheels. Running on medium compound Sport Maxx BTCC race tyres, triple British Rally Champion Mark Higgins beat the previous record for a car around the Isle of Man TT Mountain course.

Michael Dunlop smashes Isle of Man TT Mountain Course records on Dunlop

Dunlop tyres helped Michael Dunlop to a sub-17 minute lap around the iconic 37.73 mile Isle of Man TT Mountain Course, twice shattering the existing lap record, which was held by 23-time TT winner John McGuinness. The Hawk Racing BMW rider averaged 133mph on the opening two laps of the six lap race, achieving the tyre supplier’s objective of creating the 133mph Club on day one.
