Tyres & Accessories Magazine September 2022

Electric vehicle & eco tyres
The precipitous rise in new electric car registrations has prompted tyre manufacturers to consider their approach to a burgeoning new aftermarket sector. EV tyre development is also an area in flux, with manufacturers increasingly providing solutions better suited to the needs of these heavier, more torquey vehicles. The demands of EV drivers are not all that dissimilar to drivers of petrol or diesel-powered cars: fuel-efficient, low noise tyres with better safety characteristics are likely to provide the most sought benefits of most of the market. So, a single model, perhaps with some tweaks in key EV sizes, is one way to go, especially as aftermarket demand ramps up in the coming years. However, some global tyre manufacturers – many with original equipment deals to fit tyres to EVs coming off production lines – are already providing specialist solutions. Tyres & Accessories looks at this market in more detail in September.
Truck tyres
T&A readers receive a double portion of commercial vehicle tyre-related content this month. In addition to a truck tyre feature that highlights the latest products and developments in this sector, in September we additionally offer a ‘magazine within the magazine’ that expands upon a range of relevant issues.
Truck tyre magazine within the magazine
With fuel prices remaining at record high levels, high-quality, well-maintained tyres have a greater positive impact on fleet profitability than ever. Add in the complexities relating to anti-Chinese-produced truck tyres and there is plenty to talk about before we have even looked at the latest products and trends in the market. In order to emphasise the particularly important role that commercial vehicle tyres play in the safety, profitability and sustainability of fleets, Tyres & Accessories includes a new commercial vehicle tyre and retreading magazine within next month’s magazine.
