The increasing sensorisation of tyres

Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) are now a well-known part of the daily tyre business. But the trend towards further integration between sensors and vehicles as well as specifically with tyres continues. For example, the global commercial vehicle telematics market is set to grow from £7.5 billion in 2020 to £ 27.2 billion by 2027. That’s a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20 per cent, according to Global Industry Analysts Inc data. In vehicles, ADAS is a present-day reality and autonomous vehicles are coming. In tyres, TPMS, tyre ID, load sensors, wear sensors and road condition sensors are already with us, and tyre health sensing is next.
