DTM founder and chairman Steve Richardson retires
Steve Richardson, founder of Direct Tyre Management (DTM) has announced his retirement from a tyre industry career spanning 45 years. A familiar, well-regarded name around the sector, Richardson set up DTM in 2004 having distinguished himself in a rapid ascent in a variety of roles with Central Tyres, ATS Euromaster and Motorway Tyres. He will continue to provide guidance to DTM over the coming months before enjoying his retirement.

Garage Hive has launched a new data website called Garage Industry Trends. The garage management system’s managing director Ray Dilsons introduced the new site during his keynote address to a group of 230 customer and industry delegates attending The Blend 2022 conference at Birmingham’s Eastside Rooms on 17 September. The new service uses aggregated data from Garage Hive customers that have opted in to create key performance metrics in real-time. Garage Hive says more than 80 customers signed up to share anonymised data during the conference and in the subsequent week.

In the commercial vehicle (CV) sector, production rose 92.9 per cent to 6,132 units, according to the latest SMMT figures, marking the best August since 2012 and the eighth consecutive month of growth. Overseas demand was up 78.4 per cent, while production for UK operators more than doubled year-on-year, rising 119.3 per cent. Year-to-date CV output is up 50.3 per cent at 64,828 units in the best year-to-date since 2012.
