Toyota launches official parts and accessories eBay stores
Toyota GB has launched official Toyota and Lexus parts and accessories eBay stores. According to the company, the e-commerce initiative gives UK customers a new way to source the parts they need, with confidence that they are purchasing the genuine article, direct from Toyota’s central distribution centre in Lutterworth. It is also designed to reach a wider customer base, particularly among owners of older vehicles. Toyota GB is the first of Toyota’s European national marketing and sales companies to launch a full-scale e-commerce programme. It plans to further develop the online stores by introducing “click and collect” and “click and fit” services during 2014.

Giti Tire wins TyreSafe Tyre Manufacturer Award
Giti Tire has been recognised for its contribution to this October’s Tyre Safety Month, having been presented with the TyreSafe Manufacturer Award. The manufacturer undertook several initiatives through its network of 220 GT Radial Performance Centres (GTPCs) during 2013, culminating in October’s Tyre Safety Month. Each GTPC received joint-branded customer information packs with posters, leaflets and Mr McIntyre animations.

R O Williams & Son, a farm contractor near Bristol, is aiming to keep its 2009 John Deere 6930 tractor in operation until early 2014 on its original Michelin MultiBib tyres. The JD 6930 has clocked up more than 7,300 hours operation since being delivered to R O Williams & Son more than four years ago, with its tyres still only two-thirds worn (based upon the tyres remaining in service until between 10-15mm of tread is remaining).

The Freight Transport Association has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer ahead of his Autumn Statement on 5 December, asking him to confirm his commitment to freeze fuel duty until 2015 in order to stimulate economic growth and give businesses confidence to invest in the future. The Chancellor, George Osborne, has shown a continuous reluctance to increase fuel duty, and in his speech to the Conservative party conference in September he said that he wanted to freeze fuel duty for the rest of this Parliament. However, this came with the significant caveat provided we can find the savings to pay for it.
