Valeo Service UK has unveiled a new lighting & signalling catalogue featuring more than 302 new part numbers. Increased volume depresses September used car values
Average UK used car values fell in September from the record levels achieved over the summer months as volume began to return to the marketplace, according to the British Car Auctions latest Pulse report. The headline average value of a used car fell by £572 (7.1 per cent) to £7,429, with performance against CAP Clean falling slightly to 97.5 per cent.

The acquisition was completed on Friday 26 September with CPA’s Managing Director Keith Anderson and other CPA leaders continuing with the autoparts distributor. CPA becomes part of the Eastern Alliance of HgCapital-owned businesses within The Parts Alliance, the others being Allparts Automotive and SC Motor Factors.

Brityrex, the only dedicated tyre exhibition in the UK, opens in Tuesday 7 October. All bona fide members of the trade are welcome to attend the exhibition which runs 7 - 9 October at EventCity. Cooper challenges Arsenal players to footballing accuracy test
Cooper Tire Europe has produced a new video with the help of its partner, Arsenal Football Club. Midfielders, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Özil, and forward, Lukas Podolski were asked to show their accuracy skills on a bespoke structure topped with four of Cooper’s Zeon CS Sport performance tyres. A secondary test involved aiming through a single tyre, hung from the top right of the goal mouth. The video is available to view below.

From 1st October a paper tax disc no longer needs to be displayed in the windscreen of vehicles. Drivers will still be required to purchase vehicle excise duty (ved) but will no longer receive a small perforated tax disc in exchange for their money. Edmund King, AA president, said: Scrapping the tax disc really is a poignant moment in motoring history and the end of an era. That circular disc in the corner of the windscreen has been an intrinsic part of the look of motoring over the last 93 years. In many ways the car windscreen will look naked without a disc.

Online tyre retailing continues to grow in volume and influence – something that has been expected for a long time. However, the proliferation of differing online strategies is something that is proving to be less predictable. Gone are the days when online tyre retailing was simply a price competition, or in other words a race to the bottom. That strategy has resulted in the demise of many here-today-gone-tomorrow startups and has instead led to the development of a considerably more nuanced market place. Still, the online tyre space remains fiercely competitive with the likes of Blackcircles and Tyregiant each signing deals with supermarkets Tesco and Asda respectively; and with National Tyres backing the AA’s tyre offer, as another example, In other words, this market is now about far more than who can offer budget tyres for the lowest price.
