Bridgestone extends Arla commercial fleet partnership
Bridgestone has extended its fleet agreement with Arla Foods. The 13,500-strong global dairy farmer cooperative now has a deal in place with Bridgestone up until 2018. The tyre manufacturer will supply its premium tyre range and Total Tyre Care services, continuing a partnership that goes back 10 years in the UK. Bridgestone also supplies Arla in the north Europe region, specifically markets in Denmark and Sweden.

Pirelli supporting Burton Albion Community Trust Ghana project
Pirelli will support local football club Burton Albion FC’s Community Trust Ghana project for the second consecutive year. The tyre manufacturer, a long-term sponsorship partner of Burton Albion, is donating £500 to apprentice Joe Green’s target of £2,500 to support his travel costs to participate in the project. The Burton Albion Community Trust Ghana project involves young people travelling to Ghana to help with various community projects, such as building houses in some of the most deprived areas in the world as well as volunteering in schools. Green will visit Ghana in May for 11 days.

Kerr’s Tyres signs 3-year deal with Hannon Transport
Kerr’s Tyres is to supply, fit and maintain all tyres for Hannon Transport’s fleet of over 300 units and trailers. Hannon is one of Ireland’s leading refrigerated haulage companys dealing with the transportation of cut flowers, plants, fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy from mainland Europe across the UK and Ireland. The three-year deal, with an option to extend for a further three years, will reportedly focus on the supply, fit and maintenance of fuel efficiency tyres designed to reduce fuel costs and the number of breakdowns over the life of the contract.

SMMT figures show that 1,528,148 cars weremanufactured in the UK in 2014 – a 1.2 per cent increase on the previous year and the best year since 2007. In addition, the strongest December in a decade saw 108,721 cars produced; up 27.1 per cent on December 2013. This growth came despite challenges in some export markets.
