Crescent Motoring is Motor Codes’ UK Garage of the Year
The UK Garage of the Year Award was presented at the prestigious Auto Express Car of the Year Awards in London on June 30th. Motor Codes, the government-approved garage scheme revealed that Crescent Motoring from Burton on Trent in Staffordshire had scooped the prestigious award.

New figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) confirm the growing strength and vitality of the UK automotive industry and its ascendancy as a major global player. SMMT’s 16th annual Sustainability Report confirms the sector is breaking new records, with turnover hitting an all-time high of £69.5 billion in 2014. Manufacturing output, vehicle sales, jobs and export values also grew, while the environmental impact from vehicle production has been reduced dramatically.

Halfords Autocentres must pay a total of £47,000 after technicians in Bristol missed 11 of the 20 basic faults set up on Trading Standards department car. North Avon Magistrates Court ordered Halfords Autocentres to pay just under £15,000 costs, a £32,000 fine and a £150 victim surcharge after the firm pleaded guilty to eight offences under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations. Following a series of complaints, Trading Standards offices set up the mystery shopper investigation at the Filton branch of Halfords Autocentres in Bristol. While 11 of the 20 simple defects on the car were not identified or fixed, the technician reportedly gave the car back to the customer as if work was complete.

Figures published by ACEA show that, in May 2015, demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU increased (+6.0 per cent) for the fifth consecutive month, totalling 160,550 units. Growth was sustained across all commercial vehicle segments. Results were diverse among the major markets, with Germany (-9.1 per cent) and France (-5.6 per cent) facing a downturn, while Spain (+30.1 per cent) and the UK (+17.4 per cent) posted double‐digit growth.
