Singapore-based brand Firenza is purportedly striving for a position in the mid-range UK and European truck tyre markets by offering a “versatile” commercial vehicle tyre option in a “variety of sizes for all current TBR vehicle applications”. Firenza range features include a solid shoulder construction plus a zero angled steel band designed to significantly reduce irregular wear. In addition, a special tread groove is designed to further eliminate stone retention and casing damage.

The trend was not uniform, with lower powered machines declining in popularity as new riders plumped for more robust bikes.

As of yesterday, Nexen Tire is Manchester City FC’s official tyre partner. Nexen Tire president Ho-Chan Kang and Manchester City FC CEO Ferran Soriano signed the partnership documents during a ceremony held at the City Football Academy in Manchester. Amongst the attendees witnessing the start of the new agreement were Omar Berrada, the club’s football marketing director, plus a number of Nexen Tire and Manchester City executives. Several players were also present.

Hamaton launches new EU-Pro 2 European TPMS sensor
Hamaton is launching a new sensor for the European aftermarket this summer. The EU-PRO 2 sensor is the latest generation from Hamaton and designed to complement the existing EU-PRO sensor According to the company, the second sensor in the Hamaton range significantly raises the EU-Pro and EU-Pro 2 combined coverage of current TPMS equipped, vehicles to almost 97 per cent. Hamaton reports that the new EU-Pro 2, like the current EU-Pro, can be configured in only two to three seconds and can now be configured by Ateq, Teconomotor, Texa and very soon Brain Bee, TPMS diagnostic tools. Therefore the EU-Pro is said to configure 10 times faster than some popular sensors.

July CV registrations rise, despite fall in van sales
UK CV registrations rose 3.7 per cent in July, with strong truck demand outweighing a small drop in vans, according to SMMT figures. The year-to-date performance for the overall market remained positive, with 2015 registrations up 19.3 per cent. One factor is the operators’ continued drive for maximum efficiency, which was reflected in surging demand for heavier vans and trucks.
