Sir Tom Farmer, founder of the Kwik Fit automotive services network, has been named as the ninth person to receive the prestigious Edinburgh Award. The entrepreneur and philanthropist was selected to receive the accolade from a shortlist of nominations cast by the Edinburgh public. He will receive an engraved Loving Cup from the city’s Lord Provost at a ceremony within the City Chambers early next year.

Top students get Michelin French experience
Representatives from Michelin Certified Centres across the UK have further refined their customer service and management skills on a Michelin Auto Professional ‘Advanced Tyre Academy’ training course in France. The four-strong group was selected for the second stage of the Tyre Academy programme to represent dealerships that completed the previous course curriculum, which featured classroom and workshop-based training at Michelin’s dedicated training centre in Stoke-on-Trent. This year’s four delegates, who all graduated from the first Tyre Academy, were identified as ideal students for the second course by their respective dealerships.

Car parts distributor Euro Car Parts (ECP) has opened its 200th branch, as it continues to fulfil its rapid expansion plans. The new branch - Manchester (Moss Lane) - is one of ECP’s new generation hubs. Providing approximately 180 deliveries per day to Whitefield, Bury, Radcliffe, Swinton and Cheetham Hill, the hub will initially be occupied by 38 staff, increasing to 50 within one year. Totalling 60,000 sq ft (5,574 sq m) over three floors, the Manchester hub will take ECP’s total property portfolio to over 5,250,000 sq ft (487,725 sq m).
