Michelin solutions has appointed Kevin Lawton, 47, as UK and Republic of Ireland Bus and Coach sales manager. Lawton assumes the role after a nearly six-year stint as Michelin UK operations manager, firstly at Michelin Fleet Solutions, before continuing with the same role when Michelin solutions was launched in 2013. The role will see Lawton working closely with Michelin solutions’ customers to ensure an excellent quality of service across the company’s 32,000 contracted bus and coach assets. He will also focus on extending the company’s unique tyre management solutions to prospective customers.

Following a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) investigation, the garage owners and two MOT testers who worked at the Kyhber and Berbice Garage at Endsleigh Industrial Estate in Southall were sentenced following pleading guilty to conspiring to fraudulently issue MOT certificates. Shorab Jadunandan and Sanjay Spolia who were the registered owners of the garage employed Graham Cahill and Olayinka Fadayomi as MOT testers. During the investigation it was discovered that MOT certificates were being issued for cars that had never been tested on the premises.

Lorries driven by computers are to be trialled under government plans to ease motorway congestion and improve safety. It is understood as many as ten of the trucks will form a tightly packed ‘road train’ in the inside lane. The convoy – operated by one driver at the front – will be electronically linked using wireless technology, allowing the vehicles to drive closer together and free up motorway space.
