Sigmavision Ltd has become the latest organisation to lend its official support to TyreSafe. Based in the UK, Sigmavision Ltd is a high tech company, with world class expertise in laser sensor and camera imaging technology. Originally supplying offline and online laser profiling systems and laser measurement systems to the world’s largest tyre manufacturers, today it is the developer and manufacturer of TreadReader, a technology for tread depth measurement in the tyre aftermarket. Sigmavision now exclusively manufactures and supplies the TreadReader Hand Held scanner and TreadReader Drive Over ramp for aftermarket applications.

Cooper Tire Europe has launched a new warranty scheme that covers three of its product lines. Purchasers of a set of four Cooper Zeon CS Sport, Cooper Zeon CS8 and Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport tyres can take advantage of the Cooper Promise which, at no additional cost, offers accidental damage coverage for up to 30,000 miles or 48,000 kilometres. The Cooper Promise warranty also includes a 30-day/600 mile road test, during which customers can return one or more tyres, provided specific conditions are met.

The UK’s new car market grew by 5.3 per cent in March, making it the biggest ever month since the bi-annual plate change began in 1999, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). 518,707 new cars were registered in March, only the third time the market has surpassed half a million units in a single month. The month rounded off a record quarter, in which 771,780 new cars were registered – a 5.1 per cent increase over the first quarter in 2015.

The London Motor Show will take place this year from the 5th-8th May at Battersea Evolution. The final deadline to enter the TyreSafe Awards 2016 has been extended to midnight Friday 8 April. The awards, which recognise the work of those campaigning to raise awareness of tyre safety in the UK during 2015, are open to non-members of TyreSafe as well as its supporters. Submissions have already been received from tyre, car and van manufacturers and retailers, along with road safety partnerships, and represent some inspiring campaign work. Shortlisted entrants and guests will gather at the awards’ evening ceremony on 14 July at The Belfry, Wishaw, to discover who will claim the prestigious accolades.
