In the US Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) and Chelsea FC are holding free youth soccer clinics during July and August. The clinics, open to the general public, are in conjunction with Chelsea’s U.S. summer tour.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has outlined a number of proposed changes to the driving test, which are being made in order to improve road safety. The changes, subject to the outcome of research and consultation feedback, will be introduced in early 2017. The changes have been trialled with more than 4,500 learner drivers and 850 driving instructors in 32 locations across Great Britain. The 6-week consultation starts today and closes on 25 August 2016.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service reports that it and partner agencies have been working to extinguish a fire at a tyre recycling plant in Aberafan, Port Talbot. Emergency services were first called to the Egan Tyre Recycling premises following a call shortly before 11pm on 12 July, and at its height 21 fire appliances and 100 personnel were on site dealing with the incident.

Based on the responses of survey participants, the tyre and car servicing network anticipates that 1.5 million Britons who otherwise would have travelled overseas will now holiday at home, while 900,000 are no longer going on holiday at all this year. On the other hand, Kwik Fit comments that 850,000 people have decided against staying in the UK and now plan to go abroad.

40 tyres have been stolen after the ATS Euromaster branch in Cross Green Lane, Cross Green, Leeds was ram-raided last night (11 July 2016). Police are appealing for information after the incident which is believed to have taken place at about 10.30. According to West Yorkshire police, the constabulary received reports of a white transit van repeatedly ramming the shutter doors the ATS Euromaster branch “causing significant damage”.
