Hillhead publishes 2024 exhibitor list
The Hillhead Show is preparing for its 2024 edition on 25-27 June at Hillhead Quarry in Derbyshire, and the event’s initial exhibitor list is now live. The list reveals that the show is set for its largest event yet, with more for visitors to see than ever before. The event will host more than 600 companies, as the quarrying, construction and recycling industries contend with rapid changes driven by digitalisation, automation and decarbonisation. They will showcase the latest technology and innovation to increase business’ productivity and sustainability.

Tyres & Accessories’ monthly ‘Tyres News in Numbers’ column boils down the latest tyre industry news to the most important statistics of the month. Below, we look at the big numbers from the March 2024 magazine. 1.2 million tonnes - The approximate tonnage of waste tyres imported annually by India, extrapolated from Indian Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA) figures covering the eight-month period April-November 2023, for which the UK is a primary source. Around 90 per cent of this total undergoes batch-pyrolysis, a method the UK’s Tyre Recovery Association considers “outdated” and “highly polluting”

Ring and Osram to sponsor NAPA racing team in BTCC
Lighting specialist, Osram and its subsidiary, auto accessory giant Ring, has revealed its support of the NAPA racing team for British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). This year, reigning BTCC champions, NAPA Racing, is welcoming new sponsors into this coming season, two of which are Ring Automotive, with its logo prominently displayed on the rear wheel arches of Sam Osbourne’s car, and its parent company, Osram, with its logo on the front of the car under both headlights of Dan Rowbottom’s car.

Denso launches Instagram page live on BBC Radio 2
Three time Denso League of True Mechanics UK award winner, Edd Hunt, was the first post on the brand new Denso Instagram page, as he appeared on OJ Borg’s late night BBC Radio 2 show. Following a chance meeting with OJ after an awards ceremony, the DJ suggested Edd appear on his show to highlight the Denso League of True Mechanics (LOTM) competition. “Id been talking to OJ about the win and how I wanted to announce it in a high profile way, and he pitched the idea of me being a guest on the radio show to the production team and, provided we dressed up for the occasion, they approved it,” Edd explained.

Check tyres when taking vehicles out of storage: TyreSafe
UK road safety charity TyreSafe has reminded owners of vehicles emerging from winter storage that there is a heightened risk of tyre degradation for vehicles that have been off the road for an extended period. Typically spring is when vehicles such as trailers, motorcycles, caravans, and motorhomes are taken out of storage, and these vehicles are therefore prone to having tyres that have developed cracks, bulges, or other signs of wear, making them unsafe for road use.

Cam extends Dan Zelos racing sponsorship

LKQ invests £500,000 expanding UK training
LKQ Academy is opening 10 new training centres across the UK – in a £500,000 investment to help garages and bodyshops upskill technicians and support staff. The training arm of LKQ UK & Ireland has already opened two UK centres this year, with new sites in Glasgow and at its revamped Tamworth T1 base. A Manchester branch opens in April. Three more sites are set for the south of England later in 2024, with four more centres opening in 2025.

New Giti Tire Motorsport livery for TOR trucks in BTRC 2024
Team Oliver Racing’s (TOR) British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) entries have unveiled a new Giti Tire Motorsport livery ahead of the season opener at Brands Hatch 31 March – 1 April. The bonneted Volvo VNL of Stuart Oliver and MAN TGX 18.480 of Michael Oliver feature new grey, yellow and black racing colours alongside several modifications in their racing set-up. Giti is maintaining its role as official partner and exclusive tyre supplier for the third consecutive season in 2024, its sixth year in the championship.
