Truck registrations growing strongly
The latest SMMT registrations data shows that the new HGV (heavy goods vehicle) market in the UK saw strong growth in the second quarter of 2017, according to figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). 11,771 new trucks were registered – a 6.3 per cent rise on the same period last year as manufacturers delivered several large orders to fleets in quarter two.

Anti-dumping – EC to investigate Chinese tyre imports to Europe
The European Commission has issued notice that it will initiate an anti-dumping proceeding focusing on imports of truck and bus tyres originating in the Peoples Republic of China. The Commission is taking this course of action as a result of a complaint received on 30 June by the “coalition against unfair tyres imports,” a group representing the interests of manufacturers who account for more than 45 per cent of all new and retreaded truck and bus tyre production in the European Union.

TyreSafe introduces motorhome tyre pressure checker
A new feature on the TyreSafe website enables motorhome users to check the correct tyre pressures for their vehicles. Fully compatible to use on mobile phones and devices, users can select the number of rear axles and then add either the maximum or fully laden load for the front and rear of the vehicle. Tyre size and type can then be selected from a drop-down menu to produce suggested pressures.
