Abellio signs 5-year Michelin solutions tyre contract
Passenger transport operator Abellio has appointed Michelin solutions to supply, fit and manage its tyres on a cost-per-mile Effitires contract for the next five years. The company, which operates an 800-strong single and double-deck bus fleet, has returned to Michelin after moving to a rival manufacturer in 2012. As part of the agreement, Abellio will become involved in new product testing for Michelin to support the development of the company’s next generation of urban tyres.

Tim Brett is the latest recruit to join the team of area sales managers at parts and accessories distributor, Bickers. With 28 years working in the motorcycle industry, Brett is set to hit the ground running. Brett was previously part of the Bickers team between 2011 and 2015. After two years away, he has returned having seen the rebrand that Bickers set in motion at the start of the year. He will be the key point of contact for both new and existing customers across the North of England and Scotland with, while being supported by the Bickers team based in Felixstowe.

Bandvulc has announced that Faccenda Foods Ltd have extended its contract with Bandvulc’s fleet management division, BVPlus+, to March 2019. The company first became a client in 2008 and the two firms report that they enjoy “a robust business relationship which has gone from strength to strength over that time”.

Journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil will be the guest speaker at this year’s Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) Annual Dinner, on Thursday 19 October at the Landmark Hotel, London. Neil currently presents the BBC’s live political programmes, Daily Politics and This Week, and was a former editor for The Sunday Times for 11 years. He recently stepped down as the presenter of the Sunday Politics programme after 5 years in the post.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has reported a fifth consecutive month of decline in the UK new car market. August registrations fell -6.4 per cent, following 2016’s record August. The SMMT remained sanguine about the decline, pointing out that, at 76,433 new cars registered, it is still the third-best August in 10 years. The year-to-date has remained broadly in line with full-year expectations, down 2.4 per cent, with 1,640,241 new cars joining British roads in the first eight months.

A Goodyear Dunlop UK employee has marked her fifth anniversary of being cancer free by shaving off her hair and raising almost £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Linda Clarke, a credit controller at Goodyear Dunlop, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma six years ago at the age of 42 and underwent a year of intensive chemotherapy at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The company states that the upgrade represents one of the biggest and most significant investments in TyreClick since its launch in 2014, including a number of new design and user functionality features. The tyre wholesaler added that it would “never stop investing in its ambition to make TyreClick the best tyre selling site in the business” following the implementation of the new developments.
