Michelin has unveiled the 2018 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland, which highlights a total of 2,067 restaurants and 1,155 hotels and guesthouses. This year, The Araki has been awarded Three Michelin Stars. “With its nine-seater counter, The Araki has gone from strength to strength. When Mitsuhiro Araki moved to London from Tokyo in 2014 he set himself the challenge of using largely European fish and his sushi is now simply sublime,” comments Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin guides. It joins a select group of restaurants with three Michelin Stars: The Fat Duck and The Waterside Inn in Bray, Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay which has retained the award under its new chef, Matt Abé.

Former recipient of the Yokohama Next Big Step award Ed Fossey has secured his maiden championship in his first full year of rallying. Fossey won the 1400 BTRDA rally championship title at the Trackrod Stages rally in Yorkshire on Saturday, 30 September. After taking several class podiums already this season, Fossey and his co-driver Chris Shapre-Simkiss knew that a class victory in their Yokohama-shod Toyota Yaris would be enough to clinch the 2017 title.

The recent rise in fuel prices in the UK is likely to see more fluctuation, but predictions suggest that diesel may continue to rise ahead of petrol. “Much of the sharp upswing in the UK wholesale cost of petrol, caused by a big surge of global prices in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, was absorbed by retailers such that average pump prices only rose by just over 2.0pp,” commented Brian Madderson, chairman of the Petrol Retailers Association (PRA).

Lodge has completed the acquisition of the Kingsway retail business, which operates from 15 depots, predominantly in the east of England. Indeed the Kingsway website already features Lodge Group branding and refers to 16 depots, suggesting some degree of reorganising and/or re-branding has already taken place.
