Arclid Transport renews Prometeon contract
Cheshire-based Arclid Transport has renewed its tyre supply and fitting agreement with Prometeon Tyre Group, a fixed pence per kilometre (PPK) contract that covers the entire 95-strong Arclid fleet of 45 trucks and 60 trailers, predominantly made up of 6x2 artics and tri-axle trailers.

North East Lincolnshire Council has approved plans for a pyrolysis plant for processing end-of-life tyres in Grimsby. The facility proposed by Fluid Ice FO Ltd has the capacity to process nearly 25,000 tonnes of waste tyres annually. Fluid Ice claims that the plant will use a pyrolysis process “based on the plant” operated by ReOil in Jazworno, Poland, which produces saleable fuel oil, carbon black and steel as well as pyrolysis gas.

Tyre industry entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr Michael Welch OBE, has been named alongside BAFTA and Emmy-winning satirist Armando Iannucci and award-winning journalist and charity founder Sally Magnusson among the 57 fellows of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) announced the 2024. Other 2024 fellows include: Leonie Bell, Director of the V&A Dundee, public health advocate Professor Jason Gill, and Professor Elham Kashefi, a world leader in the field of quantum computing.

More than 50,000 new light commercial vehicles (LCVs) joined UK roads in a bumper March for fleet renewal as more businesses upgraded to the very latest models than in any other month during the past three years. 52,916 new vans, 4x4s and pickups were registered, up 11.1 per cent as Britons increasingly depend on vans for everything from online shopping to local trades. As a result, the van sector in 2024 delivered its best first quarter for three years, with volumes now just -7.7 per cent below Q1 2019.
