Motul joins Castle Combe Circuit as a circuit partner, event sponsor for 2024
High-performance engine oil and lubricants supplier Motul has been announced as a Circuit Partner & Event Sponsor of Wiltshire’s Castle Combe Circuit for the 2024 season. The news means that the circuit’s Media Centre is now dubbed the ‘Motul Media Centre’, and Motul becomes the title sponsor of the upcoming German Action Day car show, set to be held on Saturday, 17 August.

The national franchised dealer association (NFDA) helped to facilitate the visit of Justin Madders MP to M53 Ford at their Ellesmere Port dealership in Madders’ constituency. As well as being the local MP, Madders is Shadow Minister for business, employment rights and levelling up. Over the past few years, NFDA has helped to organise similar meetings in which a number of parliamentarians have met with franchised retailers in their constituencies.

According to official documents filed with Companies House on 24 April 2024, C. L. Tyres made an “extraordinary resolution to wind up” on 10 April 2024.

The Bulldog operation was founded in 1974 as part of the Sleaford Tyre Company Group and first supplied retreads to Bridgestone in the mid-1990s, before Bridgestone purchased it outright in 2005. A significant part of Bulldog’s recent history is made up of an increasingly close collaboration with Bridgestone. To be more specific, the two companies started working together in 1992, when Bulldog began making test tyres for Bridgestone. By 1995, Bulldog had become a major Bridgestone retreading partner. 10 years later, the working relationship became closer still when Bridgestone bought Bulldog. And next year market the 20th anniversary of Bridgestone’s Bulldog ownership. In the intervening years, Bridgestone global bought leading pre-cure retreading franchise, Bandag. Meanwhile, in the UK, Bridgestone grew to a position of market leadership in the bus tyre segment around 2017.

The tyre roadside assistance and rescue and recovery industry have been granted permission to use rear-facing red flashing lamps. The DfT said it was considering such plans in October 2023. Prior to the latest decision, the only industries able to use red-flashing lamps were government agencies as well as Police and National Highways Traffic Officers. The final stage is a wider consultation and for the principles of the final document to be shared with the Department for Transport.
