Schaeffler’s upcoming Repxpert 2CT training course is scheduled to take place on 16-17 July at the South Devon College Skills Academy in Newton Abbot, Devon. The two-day course combines theory with hands-on practice to equip technicians with the confidence and repair solutions needed to efficiently undertake VW double clutch system repairs.

BA Bush & Son has opened a new commercial depot in Wakefield. BA Bush says it will invest significantly in new mobile tyre fitting technologies and vans based at the new site to deal with the growing number of agricultural and commercial fleet customers who live in and around Wakefield. The depot is backed by the company’s tyre distribution arm, BAB Distribution, and will link up strategically with the company’s existing network of branches. With nearby branches in Rotherham, Knaresborough and Goole, this group can serve the thousands of businesses and farmers who live and work in that catchment area.

Northern Ireland’s infrastructure minister John O’Dowd has announced the introduction of one-year temporary exemption certificates (TECs) to some private cars. The TECs will apply to private cars first registered between 1 June 2019 and 31 May 2020 or between 1 June 2017 and 31 May 2018, which have a valid MOT certificate issued by the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA). TECs will come into effect from 1 June 2024 and will be automatically processed by the DVA. The Minister also confirmed that he will consider launching a public consultation on Biennial MOT testing. Sue Robinson, chief executive of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), expressed the organisations disappointment with the decision.

Hella has joined the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). It is the latest automotive business to become a member of the 800-strong organisation. Hella said it decided to sign up formally because of its work raising awareness on how new technology is changing vehicles, and the wider industry. The SMMT is one of the largest trade bodies for the UK motor industry, representing the sector’s interests with Government and other regulatory authorities. One its most significant activities is its lobbying on behalf of the automotive industry.
