Delphi Academy announces major expansion plan
To meet the evolving requirements of workshops in the UK, Delphi is investing half a million pounds in a “significant expansion” of the Delphi Academy. The Warwick-based centre will double in size, bringing total floorspace to 1,430 square metres.

UK new car registrations grew for the 21st consecutive month in April, rising by a modest 1.0 per cent to reach 134,274 units, according to the latest data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). As a result, this was the market’s best April since 2021, although uptake was still -16.6 per cent below the pre-pandemic level in what is traditionally a low volume month following the March plate change.

Ring has partnered with TyreSafe and the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service to conduct tyre pressure and tyre tread depth checks, with what the company describes as “concerning results”. To raise awareness of tyre safety, Tyre Safe has organised a several trial events throughout the UK alongside various Fire Services in West Yorkshire, automotive accessories giant, Ring is working alongside the West Yorkshire Fire Service checking tyres. In West Yorkshire, the Fire and Rescue Service has been hosting regular car washes for a charitable donation, while Ring checks the tyres of the vehicles that come through.

More than half of UK fleets (54 per cent) are buying used cars for company use and a further quarter (24 per cent) plan to do so in the next three years, according to new research. The figures are taken from the 2024 Arval Mobility Observatory Fleet and Mobility Barometer, which questioned 8,605 businesses in 30 countries about their vehicle operations. The practice shows almost no variation across companies of different sizes among those surveyed, from companies with fewer than 10 employees through to those with more than 1,000.
