Busby won after the list of around 50 entrants was whittled down to three finalists. The final was held at the Burton Pirelli Performance Centre on Wednesday 13 December.

Government revokes alloy wheel anti-dumping measure
The UK government has accepted a Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) recommendation to vary anti-dumping duties on aluminium road wheels (alloy wheels) from China. In its analysis, the TRA determined that “while the imports of one-piece cast alloy wheels are not damaging the UK’s alloy wheel manufacturing industry, imports of forged one-piece and multi-piece alloy wheels and parts of alloy wheels could cause damage”. The TRA therefore recommended in February to split the measure into two categories – firstly to keep the tariffs on the category of forged one-piece and multi-piece alloy wheels and parts of alloy wheels for five years; and secondly, to remove tariffs on the category of one-piece cast alloy wheels from China.

Starting in 2024, approximately 40 drivers will compete up and down the UK for the ‘Massimo Tyre MX5 Cup by 5 Club’. The decision to switch to the popular tyres reportedly came after “record-breaking results in testing”. The series starts on the weekend of 20 April 2024 at Croft circuit.

IAAF chief executive Mark Field addressed the industrys adaptability and innovation in the face of adversity, while the event was hosted by Stephen Whitton. The automotive industry is among the fastest sectors requiring some level of experience with Artificial intelligence (AI), according to data collected by digital PR agency Tank. Examining the proportion of job vacancies requiring AI skills, Tank found 1.02 per cent of 34,833 vacancies in the automotive sector required AI, ranking it fifth highest, behind Fashion, Electronics, Warehousing & Distribution, and Food & Beverages.

Falken Tire Europe ‘adjusting prices’ in 2024
Falken Tire Europe has announced its intention to adjust Falken and Sumitomo brand tyre prices effective at the beginning of 2024. The “adjustments” will affect Falken summer and all-season tyres for cars, SUVs, vans, light trucks, and trucks and trailers, while Sumitomo-brand summer car and van tyres will also be adjusted. Winter tyre prices will not be adjusted. The manufacturer has not yet released detailed information of the proportion or direction of the adjustments. Additionally, Falken’s UK representatives and exclusive distributor, the Sumitomo-owned Micheldever Tyre Services, told Tyres & Accessories that it was yet to confirm any new pricing details affecting the UK market.

50,000 public EV chargepoints installed in UK – DfT
The UK’s Department for Transport has hailed “another step on the road to zero emission driving” with new statistics showing that 52,602 public chargepoints have been installed across the country. This figure, supplied by Zapmap, represent a 44 per cent increase on the equivalent number at this time in 2022. The DfT added that the statistic shows the country is “on track” to reach its target of 300,000 public chargepoints by 2030.
