While many have been talking about chancellor of the exchequer the right honourable Phillip Hammond MP’s decision to increase the personal allowance threshold from £11,850 to £12,500 in April 2019, for those of us connected to the automotive and transport industries this year speech is probably best described as a pothole budget. True Hammond has raised personal allowance threshold and has raised the point at which people start paying higher rate tax (40 per cent) to £50,000, but the automotive industry was hoping for much more clarity and even support the wake of a Brexit-fuelled, uncertainty ridden market context.

Hankook recently celebrated a long service award for Richard Ettey, regional sales manager, who has been recognised for his 10-year service at Hankook Tyre UK Ltd. Hankook were first introduced to the UK in the early 1980s with just two employees. The company now employ a total of 50 staff in the UK head office; 16 of whom have completed 10 years of service or more.

SMMT reports lower September car production as “market turmoil” continues
UK car manufacturing fell by -16.8 per cent in September 2018, according to figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Compared with the same month last year, 25,610 fewer cars rolled off production lines. September’s decline caps off a turbulent first three quarters as global trade tensions, model changes and uncertainty over diesel and Brexit were exacerbated by testing backlogs due to new emissions regulations.
