Goodyear supplying tyres for UK’s largest electric fleet – Zipcar
Goodyear Tyres has announced that it is partnering with Zipcar UK, the country’s leading car sharing service, with 24/7 member access to a fleet of 2,600 vehicles. Of these, 325 are electric, making it the largest electric vehicle fleet in the UK. Goodyear is supplying both car and van tyres to the fleet, helping Zipcar UK’s 250,000 members to move around London efficiently.

MWheels launches new 9.00×22.5 Xlite, Xbrite forged aluminium wheels
MWheels has launched a new generation of 9.00x22.5 Xlite and Xbrite forged aluminium wheels. The wheels are available in two ten-stud variations, designed for 295/60R22.5, 315/60R22.5, 315/70R22.5 and 315/80R22.5 tyres. Both have a load capacity of 4,125kg, have been TÜV tested, and gained KBA approval. The 26mm stud hole variant weighs 25.9kg and the 32mm 25.7kg. Like all Xlite and Xbrite wheels the new models carry a five-year warranty.

Fastned wins second tender in the North East of England
Fastned, a charging company which is building a European network of fast charging stations, won a second tender in the UK led by the North East Joined Transport Committee. Fastned will build and operate five fast charging stations (hubs) for electric vehicles across the region. Each station will initially house two 50 kW fast chargers (known as “rapid” chargers in the UK) that will deliver 100 per cent renewable electricity.

Halfords extends Mobile Expert ‘garage on wheels’ across London
Halfords will extend its Mobile Expert service to London, following its pilot in the West Midlands, Manchester and Surrey. The retailer will place five new vans in London from 30 March, which it says will cover the capital. The service means that Halfords Mobile Expert vans will be available to nearly a third of UK households. The company added that it plans to roll out between 100 and 150 vans across the UK within the next two years.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service chooses Michelin tyre policy
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service will fit Michelin tyres across its 100 heavy fire appliances, in the service’s first major tyre policy change in 20-plus years. Its vehicles are used to respond to around 3,200 fires, 500 road traffic collisions and 500 other emergency incidents annually. The new tyre policy mirrors that operated by the two other Fire and Rescue Authorities in Wales. The Michelin X Multi Z all-position tyres will be supplied and fitted by Tructyre ATS, with a small amount of fitment work undertaken by the service’s own in-house workshops, on a predominantly 15-tonne Volvo truck fleet.
